September is right around the corner 🍁🍂crisp air will be following. Cool mornings and sunshine ☀️ pretty soon along with apple cider and beautiful mums and pumpkins we will all be looking for a heated barn and heated arena.

Red Oaks is heated in the barn and also in the indoor arena.
Come on in and take your jacket off and enjoy being as comfortable as your horse is.

Now this is a fun arena!!!
You may just see the most beautiful outdoor arena footing ever and yes I would agree to that but what I see is even more exciting.
It’s camaraderie!!!
It’s hanging with your barn peeps and having fun riding our horses. Tweaking positions and working on canter departs and getting that trot right where you want it.

Maybe it’s getting in the arena first on a freshly dragged arena and working that 20 meter circle to perfection and then walking down the grass pathways and take the bridle path around the property.

I don’t know about you but that’s pretty darn close to heaven for horse peeps

“Let’s talk about it”

One of the questions I get during a barn tour is

“Turn out”
We turn out 7 days a week weather permitting meaning if it’s raining they won’t be going out. Who wants to walk horses out in the rain and our horses don’t wanna be out in the rain.
We don’t turn out in storms…horses and lightening don’t mix and thunder is always a precursor to what’s coming.

In the winter ❄️ months it’s a daily call depending on snow storms and ice. My goal is get them out if it’s safely possible everyday.
After it rains or during spring and fall when fields can get muddy we have the lovely option of dry lot paddocks so even if it’s to wet in the fields they get out on limestone.
Our goal is maintain the grass fields so we have grass for the horses to graze.

If horses do stay in for the day they all get lunch hay in their stalls. Again moving tummies are happy tummies and that’s what we like 👍

Our main goal is daily turnout because we want our horses doing what horses are meant to do ….graze and forage
