Hi everyone! Since we’ve been in England and David didn't do a work trip in October, we've had a lot more people than usual reach out for his upcoming November trip. Thank you so much!
Please bear with us while we sort out the schedule. To make sure David gets home in time for Thanksgiving, he may need to move a few customers to his December trip. We'll start reaching out to schedule next week.
One more thing I failed to mention to every customer this month: David's original planned travel dates can shift by a few days depending on how many customers he has in each area. If the day he can come doesn't work for you, just let us know and he'll be happy to put you on his December trip instead.

David Gilpin, independent English saddler, will be available for saddle fittings throughout the Park City/Northern Utah/Wasatch Front areas in Utah on Sept 30th-Oct 1st.

David trained in England through a 10-year apprenticeship under Master Saddler Nathanial Underwood of Devon. He has worked in the U.S. for 29 years. He specializes in custom saddle fittings on English and Western saddles. He does reflocking, adjustments and minor repairs on every kind of English saddle. Most of his work is done on site so he'll come to you.

David will be on the road again in November for custom English & Western saddle fittings, reflocking, adjustments, and English saddle repairs — including saddles that are normally only handled by the manufacturer’s own reps. David is independent and most of his work is done right at your barn.

Not long ago, I mentioned a few customers were missing David’s scheduling texts. A few days before his trip, he texts customers with a date and time he can be there. He doesn’t usually check back if you don’t confirm.
We’ve figured out why some people miss his texts- they sometimes land in spam, or people ignore the text because David's number isn’t recognized. To make sure you get it, add his number—435-881-2364—or watch for a text from a Utah number the week before his trip. Please confirm ASAP after you receive his text, so David can plan his trip faster, and so you keep your spot. Thanks everyone!

Yes, David can re-sew when saddle stitching comes apart. If the leather is worn, and tears because of that, he can sometimes repair it, but not always.
If stitching on your saddles tends to break, one common cause can be using excessive oil (conditioners and cleaners) that build up and add moisture to the leather and thread. David's favorite product is Effax Leather Combi. It's the perfect product for cleaning, conditioning and waterproofing leather. It doesn't weaken thread like others do (unless used excessively). Any product allowed to build up over time will weaken the thread and will also damage your leather.
