Here is an announcement of interest for people who may want to take their dogs to Tybee Island Beach. This comes from my good friend Lyndy Brannon, recently with WRHG Radio and, going further back, as an evening news anchor at WSAV in Savannah.

Wednesday, October 7, 6-8pm. Head over to Starland Yard in Savannah (2411 De Soto Avenue) to see portraits of “Lonely Hearts” painted by artist Stephanie Forbes. Stephanie’s portraits shine a light on dogs from the Humane Society for Greater Savannah who are often overlooked for adoption. Some are seniors. Others have been waiting longer because of their temperament, history, medical needs or circumstances. At the heart of the project is an effort to bring people and dogs together outside of the shelter environment.

When one of the dogs featured in “Lonely Hearts” is adopted, their original portrait goes home with their new family free of charge; a permanent reminder of the story that brought them together. Guests can meet the dogs featured in the show, enjoy beverages, food trucks, community fellowship, and support animal welfare.

A very special graduation for certain.

Graduation season wouldn't be complete without recognizing the four-legged graduates of our Blood Bank donor program. 👏 🎓

Stella, Gumbo, Molly and Wiley helped heal nearly 50 patients at the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital by donating 14.1 liters of plasma, whole blood and packed red blood cells. All four dogs belong to members of the CVM Class of 2026 who are jetting off to begin their careers.

Please join us in thanking these all-star pups and their owners for giving back!
