Whew it was another hot one today! Early mornings or later in the evenings is the only way to get er done. Benji had a good training session this morning and his sit-stay is coming along nicely. Way to go pup!

Happy “Little Brown Dog” Day!

“South Carolina Governor Richard W. Riley first declared the holiday in 1984 to coincide with the start of the state's dove hunting season. The date also honors the heritage of the Boykin Spaniel Society, celebrating South Carolina's official state dog.

Key Facts About the Breed

Origin: Developed in the early 1900s along the Wateree River Swamp in South Carolina to hunt wild turkeys and ducks.

Nicknames: Often called the "Swamp Poodle" or "Little Brown Dog" (LBD).

State Dog: Officially designated as South Carolina's state canine in 1985.

Temperament: Highly energetic and skilled in the field, yet friendly and adaptable as a family pet.”

Field trip for Sully on this last day of August to Tractor Supply. He was a little spastic, probably a better term is overly excited with all the people and activity. I think he thought everyone there was there to say hi and pet him. Making good progress with this little furball but always work to do!

While today is a day of rest, every now and then you feel the urge to get a dog out to get some training in. Today was that day! Sully working on his down-stay commands on this rather humid Sunday morning.
