Cat Nap Lodge

Cat Nap Lodge Cat Nap Lodge Community Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit cat rescue and foster home located between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in Richland Michigan.

Please note, we schedule visitors by appointment to assure that a volunteer is available to greet you. Welcome to the Lodge:
Cat Nap Lodge is a small cat rescue located in Richland, MI. We are not a shelter, we are a home. The cats and kittens in the care of our volunteers are treated and cared for as members of our family, until they have a family of their own. Our mission is to reduce the homele

ss cat population by bringing the lost indoors and finding them loving homes as well as educating the community about the necessity of spaying and neutering their pets. Our number one priority is to provide our cats and kittens with quality and consistent medical care, nutrition and social enrichment within a loving home. Because we focus on the quality of our care, we limit the number of cats and kittens that we take in to those who need us the most. These include the dumpster babies, the found in a cardboard box babies, the orphaned and alone babies, and many other sad stories too numerous to count. We surround all of our cats and kittens with love, just as we would our own children. And then, when the right family comes along who will care for them and love them just as we have, we tearfully say goodbye. Our one consolation is that every time we adopt out a baby, we are able to take in another one who needs us. When you adopt a cat from Cat Nap Lodge you are saving two lives. The cat you are taking home and the one we take in after. We cordially invite you into our center to visit and play with our many feline family members. However, to avoid undue stress on the cats and visitors alike, appointments are required. So please call ahead to make an appointment.

How does the KAR Community Spay & Neuter Program work?

We want to clarify…

While we are fortunate to have a full-time veterinarian on staff, her primary responsibility is caring for the animals housed at Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. The health and medical needs of the animals in our care must always come first.

When our schedule allows, we are happy to offer spay and neuter services to members of the community. However, these appointments are only available when we have openings.

If you would like to be added to our spay/neuter appointment list, please send an email to [email protected]. We will add your request to our list and contact you when we have availability.

Please understand that calling, messaging, or repeatedly following up to ask why you have not been contacted yet does not move you higher on the list and takes staff time away from caring for the animals currently in our shelter.

We understand that having an unaltered pet can be frustrating, but we ask for your patience and respect as we work through requests as quickly as our schedule allows.

Most importantly, please remember that we will only contact you WHEN we have availability. If you have not heard from us yet, it simply means we do not currently have an opening in our schedule.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

We love and appreciate all of our supporters, however please check our events to see if we are having a bottle drive prior to dropping off cans. We only accept bottle and can drop offs twice a year during the scheduled bottle drives. We don't currently have volunteer support to return bottles on a regular basis.
