PECO has just informed us they will be doing upgrades in this area of Richboro on Wednesday the 29th and Friday May 15th that require them to shut down the power to the surrounding area, making it impossible to help out our furry friends in the dark. People who have appointments scheduled for those dates are currently being reached out to for rescheduling purposes. We're deeply sorry for any inconveniences that this has caused, and just wish that PECO had given us a little more advanced warning for this week.

Each week, we share stories from across our district of neighbors whose character and acts of service remind us what makes Bucks County such a special place to call home. Today, we honor a man whose courage and quick action saved a life. Meet this week’s Hometown Hero—Dr. John Sampson of Warwick Township.

Dr. Sampson is well known here at home as the owner of the Richboro Veterinary Hospital, where he’s saved countless pets and provided care and comfort to families throughout our community. But over Labor Day Weekend, he became a hero of a different kind.

When a child made his way onto a sky-high monorail track, shocked visitors looked on from below as his frantic parents searched the crowd. Dr. Sampson, a father of three, jumped into action—climbing a fence to reach the roof of a nearby building, stepping onto the track himself, and carrying the frightened boy to safety.

He may have described himself as just a guy in the right place at the right time, but to the boy he saved, his family, and all of us here in Bucks County, he is much more. His actions weren’t an accident of circumstance—they were the instinct of a man who has built his life around care and service. As a veterinarian, business owner, and community member, he has devoted himself to healing and strengthening the bonds between families and their beloved pets. That same compassion is exactly what he brought to that moment on the monorail track.

Heroism isn’t reserved for a few—it’s found in the everyday decisions we make to protect and care for one another. Dr. Sampson’s example calls on each of us to act when someone is in need and reminds us we are at our best when we show up for one another.

Please join me in honoring Dr. Sampson for this extraordinary act of selfless bravery!

Dr. Sampson has always been a hero to us, his clients and his patients; but now the whole world knows that his compassion and selflessness extends far beyond the doors of RVH.

A huge shout-out to Dr. Sampson, for being the all around wonderful person that he is, and for being that little boys guardian angel in his time of need! 🎉👏

We appreciate your patience with this, and if you need anything immediately, you will have to stop by the office.

I will update this as soon as the phones are working.

Big boy Finn came in for an annual exam, and can be a bit of a nervous nelly. After some treats and sweet talking, he was Dr. Sampson's best friend! He had a great visit and that will help him be less stressed when he comes back in the future!
