Whether it’s a quick trip to the park or a weekend road trip, your dog deserves the same protection you do. A few simple steps can make every ride safer:

- Use a harness, never a collar. A collar puts all the force on your dog’s neck. A well-fitted harness spreads it across the chest.
- Choose a crash-tested restraint. Look for a harness or carrier certified by the Center for Pet Safety.
- Keep your dog in the back seat. Front airbags are designed for adult humans and can seriously injure a pet.

New to car restraints? Start with short drives so your dog gets used to the gear before your next big adventure.

Which fall plants are toxic to dogs and cats?

Fall decor is fun, but some seasonal plants can make pets sick. Here are six to watch for:

- Pumpkins & gourds: Fresh, plain pumpkin is generally safe, but mold on a rotting pumpkin can be toxic.
- Oak leaves & acorns: They contain tannins that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Acorns can also be a choking or blockage risk.
- Autumn crocus: Every part of the plant is toxic and can cause severe illness.
- Tulips: All parts are toxic, and the bulbs are the most dangerous.
- Chrysanthemums (mums): The flowers, leaves and stems can cause drooling, vomiting and skin irritation.
- Lilies: Every part of a true lily, including the pollen and vase water, can cause kidney failure in cats.

What should you do if your pet eats a toxic plant? Don’t wait for symptoms. Call us or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 right away, and bring a photo of the plant if you can.

❤️ Help Us Feed Families This Holiday Season! 🥫

Last year, thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to collect so many donated items for the North Texas Food Bank! We’re excited to bring this donation drive back again this year and see how much more we can give.

We’ll have a donation bin in our lobby where you can drop off non-perishable food items to help support local families in need this holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who donated last year! Your kindness truly makes a difference. ❤️ Let’s work together to make this year’s donation drive even bigger!

Every donation counts, and together, we can help put food on the table for families in our community. 🧡

📍 Donation bin located in the CityVet Richardson lobby.

Thank you for your generosity and support!

One of our wonderful regular clients recently took in a mama cat and lovingly fostered her and her kittens. We’re happy to share that all of her babies have found loving homes, and now it’s Mama’s turn to find a forever home of her own! ❤️
If you’re interested in giving this sweet girl the loving home she deserves, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We would be happy to connect you with her current foster to learn more about her.🐾

Can dogs eat pumpkin for Halloween? Yes!

Homemade pumpkin treats are a dog-safe alternative to Halloween candy. Just use 100% pure pumpkin with no sugar or spices, not pumpkin pie filling.
Mix 1 cup pumpkin, 2 eggs and 2½ cups oat flour. Then roll, cut and bake at 350°F for 20–30 minutes. Keep treats under 10% of your dog’s daily calories.

You’ll find the full recipe, plus soft and grain-free versions, on our blog at the link below!

Oh, Maple! 🐾 Oh, how fun it was having you with us all day! ❤️

You were the receptionist, helped fill prescriptions, assisted Arial with restocking the Keurig ☕, and even helped us discover that you’re about the same size as all of our syringe boxes! 😂

Might I say, you were such a helping hand! 🐶💕

We absolutely loved having Maple spend the day with us! We hope she’ll come back and visit again soon! 🐾❤️
