Mia visited us this morning to address a couple of hot spots! 🐾

Hot spots are superficial skin infections that often develop when a dog licks, chews, or scratches an area, allowing bacteria to overgrow on the skin.

Tech Landon clipped and cleaned the affected areas, and Dr. Chitwood prescribed antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory medication to help Mia heal and feel more comfortable. 💕

If you notice your pet excessively licking, scratching, or developing a red, irritated patch of skin, don't wait—hot spots can worsen quickly and are best treated early!

Harley visited tech Bianca and Dr. Washington-Foster on Friday for her annual wellness and an aural hematoma (a pocket of blood and fluid that collects between the skin and cartilage of a dog's ear pinna, making it look swollen and puffy).

These hematomas are most commonly caused by violent head shaking or scratching due to underlying ear infections. She was a model patient while the doctor drained 11mL of fluid from her ear 🙀, and Bianca cleaned and administered ear medication to treat the infection. 🐾💙

Honey definitely won best dressed 🏆 when she visited recently for her annual exam, rabies vaccine, and lab work. 😻

Cats need annual veterinary exams for:
•preventive care & early detection of treatable diseases (such as kidney disease, thyroid conditions, and dental disease)
•vaccination updates
•parasite prevention

Yearly checkups allow veterinarians to detect subtle changes early and establish baseline health records.🩺

We want to congratulate tech Jennifer on an incredible accomplishment! 🎉

She has officially graduated from the first portion of her journey to becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician! Today, we celebrated her achievement with a little surprise party after a long day in surgery with Dr. Merk and tech Lucy.

We are so proud of her hard work, dedication, and passion, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to grow and thrive in veterinary medicine. Her future is so bright! 💙🐾
