The Oneida County Humane Society began advocating for humane treatment of animals and children in 1913 when it was officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization. MThe Rhinelander Animal Shelter currently provides services to all of Oneida County animals. Over the years, members of the Oneida County Hum

ane Society actively provided funds for area animal shelters and humane societies. In 2011 a small group of area animal lovers came together with the hope of expanding the Society’s activities to include education to the public and greater assistance to the Rhinelander Animal Shelter. On July 1, 2012, the Oneida County Humane Society assumed operational responsibility for the Animal Shelter, renaming it the Oneida County Humane Society Adoption Center.

🥰Lovey and Curly have been at OCHS since May. These two are bonded and need to go to a home together. They are shy with new people but if you can spend just 15-20 minutes meeting them, they will show you their amazing, funny and sweet personalities. Both are around 2 years old, spayed, heart worm negative, have their shots, microchipped and vet checked. They do not have very good leash skills but are working on it. They keep a clean kennel and love to follow and be by their people. They are sponsored -no fee for adopter. Call or stop by to meet them. They have been waiting too long.

💕How is Pepper still at OCHS?! This sweet girl is the best! Pepper really enjoyed her walk, all the smells and seeing new things. Pepper is under a year old, spayed, current on shots, microchipped, heart worm negative and vet checked …AND NO ADOPTION FEE!
Pepper can be shy at first. Does prefer females. Could do well with other pets. Could do well with older respectful kids who understand she needs some time to get to know them.
Stop by today to meet her. We are open 12-4.

Update: Adopted!!🎉

💕Alice is the last of the 10 poms we had here at OCHS. Alice is the most shy and will need a person who understands there may be a long road ahead for her to learn to trust and understand life outside of a kennel. She is very curious and has done well with other dogs. She would do best in a home with adults. She has no leash skills and is nervous and very shy. Alice has such potential to be an amazing lap dog for the right person who will give her time and space she needs. Stop by during open hours to meet this girl.
She is spayed, 6 years old, has her shots, heart worm negative, microchipped and vet checked.

🐶💕Pudge, a new arrival to OCHS went out for a walk today with our volunteer Jeanne. He loved his walk and would be a good speed for your daily strolls. Pudge came in with another dog as a stray, so we do not know too much about him. But we do know he’s pretty great and ready for a home! Stop by tomorrow 12-4 to meet him and talk with staff on how you could adopt or foster to adopt this great guy!

✨🤩Big News at OCHS!

We are so grateful to have received a grant to help improve our dog housing areas at OCHS!

Please excuse our mess as we work through these improvements over the next few months. While there may be some construction along the way, we are incredibly excited about the changes and how they will help us provide even better care, comfort, and housing for the pets.

We will continue to be open for regular hours of 12-4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
