As a kid I thought it would be awesome to have a dog who wants to play fetch and tug with. I smiling knowing I have that dog now!! šŸ„°

Messing around with Blaze and taught him to jump over my back. In an older Bad Dog Agility podcast they had Kathy Keats, they discussed how when children learn they arenā€™t afraid of failure and discover what works and what doesnā€™t. Then when we get older we get afraid to fail and do everything we can to prevent that. I really liked that part of the podcast because when playing/training with your dog, donā€™t be afraid of failure. Try things. Experiment. Learn why things work and others didnā€™t. Grow your understanding.

When teaching Blaze to jump over my back, I taught it with a mindset of ā€œletā€™s try itā€. Give it try next time with your dog. Donā€™t become attached to results just go out and see what happens.

For the foreseeable future The Greatest Family Dog (this town has ever seen) and Puppy Palooza! will remain closed for inperson classes. With a new baby I canā€™t commit to the time those two courses took. However I am so proud of those courses and I LOVED the progress each one of my students had. I am entertaining the idea of putting the material into demo videos in private fb groups and with access to feedback on your training. Is there interest? Who misses those classes and would like to see it in an online format with feedback?

Agility private lessons will remain open for August. I never know how long classes will remain open with a baby so donā€™t wait..take advantage during August.

This course might have won but on the 4th try we beat this course šŸ˜ŽšŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Lesson learned: this one needed a walk through and thorough thinking/planningā€¦not just look at where obstacles are and go for it šŸ™ƒ at least it wasnā€™t a trial and now our skills are stronger than before.

This course will be set up for ring rentals through Friday.

Accepting agility private lessons and ring rentals only at this time: https://www.desirabledogtraining.com/agility

Confession timeā€¦ this video was Blazeā€™s first trial weekend (Oct 2025) and I never posted this video because it wasnā€™t ā€œperfectā€. But man do I love this run! Our first agility weekend ā¤ļø someone asked if I was doing FEO for it being his first weekend and I remember saying ā€œnah we are going for it!ā€ Blaze did AMAZING!!! I love watching this run for the lead out (big sucker for great lead outs) and we had the best plan of the class on obstacles 1-3. Really nice turn out of the tunnel ā¤ļø I donā€™t love my timing on verbals but happy to report the timing has gotten better the more coursework experience we get together. Enjoy this not perfect run because I love it so much
