Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

VCA McClave's Cat of the Month for July is Barley 🐱🏆 Barley's a very brave and polite kitty who we've had the pleasure of knowing for over 5 years. We absolutely adore him (and his white socks) 😻

“This is Barley, a very young and spritely 15 year old tabby. Barley loves to spend his days soaking up sun rays, bounding up his tree to keep a watch on the birds outside, and hunting rubber bands. If you’re lucky, you can hear him howl at the full moon. Barley is grateful to Dr. Khalaf, Lynda, and the amazing folks at VCA McClave for catching his heart problems early. Thanks to them, he can keep showering his family with lots of hugs and kisses and keep a close eye on the nightly outdoor cat drama."
