We had such a great time with the staff/Drs at Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty. What a great team- and they made our arena SHINE and brought and administered some vaccinations for our Buns! Always so great to have such helpful Volunteer Work Parties! THANK YOU!

Amelias ✨Birthday Week✨ continues! Her "Monday Ladies" spoiled her today with a fruit salad- complete with a candle and song!

You guys- we cannot express how incredible it is that our volunteers and guests love Amelia as much as we do. From being found alone in a pasture barely alive- to celebrating her 6th birthday all week- what a lucky cow (and lucky US!).

It's Amelia's Birthday week! Follow along for all the cow kisses and content! Can you guys guess how old she will be?!

As of this rainy morning, we’ve raised just over $6,500 toward our $50,000 “Send a Kid to Camp” goal.

And while that number may seem small compared to the mountain ahead of us… I keep thinking about the kids behind our "WHY"- and how much this program means to everyone on our SAS Team.

The child who giggled the first time they fed a goat.
The campers who left here wet and smiling- after running through the sprinklers, exhausted, laughing, confident, and proud of themselves.

Last year, because of this community (OUR community), we watched children who were struggling in their own ways- completely light up at camp. They found real connection here. To our Barnyard Crew, and to the wide open spaces.

That is what “Send a Kid to Camp” does.
It’s not JUST summer camp.
It’s healing.
It’s memories that stick long after summer ends (for ALL of us).

But we cannot do this alone, Friends. We have 80 kids and counting who have applied for scholarships!
A $50 donation buys supplies.
$100 helps feed campers.
$250 sponsors a full week of camp.
$500 changes an entire summer for one child.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to help – please consider this it. In FLASHING NEON! :)

Please donate, share, sponsor, or help us spread the word. Every single dollar gets us closer to putting more kids on the farm this summer. ❤️

Together, we can give children the kind of summer they will remember forever.

Swipe ➡️ to meet Sheriff!

Or, as the great State of Washington probably knows him: Sheriff Maximus Wally McLlama.

Sheriff is 20-Mind-Your-Business years old, and takes his self-appointed position as Head of Farm Security extremely seriously.

His duties include:
• supervising literally everyone
• patrolling the fence line
• staring into your soul from 40 feet away
• enforcing his famous 3-foot personal space bubble
• looking majestic for absolutely no reason

At his last vet checkup, Dr. Elizabeth said he was in GREAT shape and was genuinely suprised by his age. Which honestly just confirmed what Sheriff already believed about himself- no "Silver Fox" here- it's "Silver-Llama"-clearly.

Despite the tough-guy reputation, Sheriff is actually a very good boy. He watches over his herd, keeps an eye on the pasture, and somehow always knows when something is “off.” (Usually before the humans do.)

He’s also proof that our sanctuary animals don’t stop having purpose as they age. Sheriff may be a senior citizen, but he is still out here clocking in daily, managing the drama, and making sure no one acts suspicious near his alpaca friends.

Honestly? We just work here. Sheriff runs the place.

If you'd like to send Sheriff some snacks for his hard work you can donate here: https://sammamishanimalsanctuary.org/donate

It’s Shearing Day at SAS and there are some complaints already filed with management. 🐑✂️

Unfortunately for our barnyard crew, we cannot allow everyone to head into summer wearing a full comforter.

Today’s agenda included:
• Spa day
• Unwanted haircuts
• Dramatic betrayal
• Hopefully some forgiveness in exchange for snacks

Shearing is an important part of animal care and helps keep our fluffy residents healthy, clean, and comfortable heading into the warmer months… even if they act like we’ve personally ruined their lives for approximately 17-25 minutes.

Stay tuned for post-shear zoomies and questionable haircut opinions!
