Arrow Animal Urgent Care Arrow Animal Urgent Care is an urgent care clinic for dogs and cats in Renton, WA. Walk-in only; we do not take appointments.

Our compassionate, knowledgeable staff is here to serve your pets 7 days a week. Our animal urgent care services are offered on a walk-in basis only; we do not take appointments. In general, we provide care for your pet in situations where the problem isn’t critical enough to seek emergency care but you are unable to get an appointment at your primary veterinarian’s office within a few days. We treat the following issues in dogs and cats:

• limping or pain
• minor lacerations, wounds, or burns
• abscesses
• vomiting and diarrhea
• blood in urine or stool
• cough or upper respiratory infection
• urinary tract infections
• toxin ingestion
• allergic reactions
• eye problems
• ear or skin infections
• scooting or licking
• broken toenails

In comparison, an emergency veterinarian hospital would treat issues like open fractures, heavy or uncontrolled bleeding, difficulty breathing, inability to urinate, and seizures. For these issues or life-threatening emergencies, please go to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

🍇 Grapes: Tiny Fruit, Big Trouble! 🐶

This sweet little puppy found themselves in a bit of a grape predicament! While grapes might be a tasty snack for us, they can be seriously dangerous for our furry friends. 🍇⚠️

Grapes and raisins can cause acute kidney injury in dogs, and the tricky part is that we can’t predict which dogs will be affected or how many grapes it takes to cause a problem. Even a small amount can be concerning, so it’s always best to take ingestion seriously.

Luckily, this little pup came in for some help, and we got right to work! We induced vomiting and successfully got grapes up. 🙌🍇 Early intervention is so important when it comes to potential toxins!

And the best part? This puppy felt no consequences from the visit because the vet was full of pets, loves, and plenty of attention! 🥰 No hard feelings, just lots of cuddles and a reminder that grapes are a no-go for our canine companions.

🚨 If your pet eats grapes or raisins, don’t wait for symptoms. Contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control center right away. Early treatment can make a big difference!

🔥🐱 Curiosity may have gotten the cat… and unfortunately, it got the toe beans too!

This sweet kitty, Bass, was simply doing what cats do best: being curious and checking out places they absolutely must investigate. 😹 One innocent leap onto the counter turned into a very unfortunate encounter with a stovetop burner that was still hot.

The result? Some very toasty toe beans. 🐾🔥

Burnt paws are uncomfortable, and unfortunately, healing means bandage changes—which are never anyone’s favorite activity. But this handsome boy was an absolute sweetheart through the whole thing. 🥹💕

Luckily, we discovered the universal feline currency:

✨ CHURUS. ✨

Bandage change? Churu.
Sore paws? Churu.
Feeling a little betrayed by your medical team? Definitely Churu. 😂

Thankfully, this sweet boy is doing well and showing us that even when your toe beans have a rough day, a little love, patience, and a delicious snack can make everything better. 🐾❤️

Reminder: Cats are curious little acrobats, so always double-check that stovetops and other hot surfaces are cool and safe before your furry friend gets a chance to investigate!

🐱🔎 The Case of the Missing Cat Collar! 🐶

A cat collar went missing, and there was one obvious suspect… the spunky young puppy! 👀🐾 Fingers were pointed, accusations were made, and naturally, the puppy maintained complete innocence. 😇

Since puppies like to act as four-legged vacuum cleaners, picking up just about anything they can find, we decided to take a closer look. Quick radiographs showed NO signs of a cat collar hiding in the gastrointestinal tract. 🎉

Gastrointestinal foreign bodies can be serious and scary, especially when our pets decide that socks, toys, rocks, or random household objects look like snacks. Not every foreign object shows up well on radiographs, but luckily, this particular cat collar had metal rings attached, which would appear bright and obvious on X-rays if it had been swallowed.

So, for now, the puppy has been cleared of all charges. 🕵️‍♀️🐶

The collar? Still missing.
The puppy? Still suspicious.
The vacuum cleaner behavior? Highly likely. 😂

Remember: if you suspect your pet swallowed something they shouldn’t have, don’t wait for symptoms to become severe. A gastrointestinal foreign body can become an emergency very quickly. ❤️🐾

🐾 When Your Pup Gets a Little Puffy! 🐶

Allergic reactions in dogs can look very different depending on the severity. They can range from minor facial swelling, like the puffy muzzle seen in this sweet pup, to more aggressive reactions involving hives, vomiting, difficulty breathing, or even anaphylaxis. While some reactions may remain mild, others can progress quickly and require immediate veterinary attention.

Some common triggers include:
🐝 Insect bites or stings
🌱 Exposure to plants, grass, or other environmental allergens
🍗 Food or treats
🧴 Shampoos, cleaning products, or other substances they may have come into contact with
💊 Medications or vaccines

After an exam, we treated cute Lucy with injectable medications to help get the reaction under control, along with some appropriate over-the-counter allergy medication for continued support at home. Thankfully, this sweetie did wonderfully and that adorable muzzle was soon looking much less puffy! ❤️

⚠️ A quick reminder: Never give your pet an over-the-counter allergy medication without first talking with your veterinarian. The appropriate medication and dose depend on your pet’s size, health, and other medications they may be taking. Some human allergy products can contain ingredients that are dangerous for pets.

If your pet develops significant facial swelling, widespread hives, repeated vomiting, difficulty breathing, weakness, collapse, or other concerning symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately. Allergic reactions can sometimes progress rapidly.

When in doubt, give your veterinarian a call! 🐾❤️
