Our Memorial Park is a special place for families to remember and honor the beloved pets they’ve lost, and we’re always looking for volunteers to help keep the grounds looking beautiful throughout every season.

Another season, and our pet cemetery looks so beautiful. 🍂

As golden autumn sunlight filters through the trees, we’re reminded of the everlasting love and sweet memories shared with all the cherished companions resting in our Memorial Park.

Set on our peaceful, protected grounds, our cemetery offers full burial, green burial, and cremation services to honor your family member. Plus, every memorial service directly helps support the homeless animals currently cared for in our shelter.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Pet Memorial Sunday. It was a deeply moving, beautiful evening dedicated to honoring and remembering the beloved pets who brought so much light, comfort, and loyalty to our lives.

Gathering together to share stories, light candles, and hold space for the unique bond we share with our animal companions made the night truly special. Though our pets may no longer be by our side, the love they gave us stays with us forever. 🐾❤️

SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT:
Cadence Lewis

Cadence is a senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she is part of the university’s accelerated B.A./M.A. program. She majors in History, with minors in Public History and Asian Studies.

Project Summary:
Over the summer, Cadence worked with BHS as a history intern–researching the organization's earliest years, the history of animal cemeteries in the region, and BHS Memorial Park within those contexts. Much of her research focused on learning more about the pets who have been laid to rest in the cemetery over the past century–uncovering stories and memories of animals who were deeply loved and long-remembered. She's honored to share some of those unique and poignant stories at Pet Memorial Sunday.

Baltimore Humane Society Memorial Park is the final resting place for so many beloved pets, including "Cora" & "Boy" two of the first guide dogs in the US. Their caretaker was Arthur Sewell, first custodian of the Baltimore Flag House and locally famous not only for his work and residence at the Flag House but also for being a person who is blind but an excellent bowler!

Cadence is joining us as a guest speaker and she will tell us some of the many interesting stories about the people and pets of BHS Memorial Park.
