I'm just posting to update: Pack Walk Reedsburg will be at 10:15am on Wednesdays and Pack Walk Baraboo will be on Thursdays at 5:15pm. Next month, I will announce two new additions to the group options. What is Pack Walk? Unlike a free-for-all dog park visit, pack walks are highly controlled. The primary goal is to simulate a natural "migratory" instinct, teaching dogs to focus on the walk and their handlers rather than interacting with one another. Standard rules for a successful pack walk generally include: The "No Contact" Rule: Dogs are kept at a safe distance from one another. No nose-to-sniff, jumping, or playing while on the move. No Retractable Leashes: Handlers typically use standard 4 to 6-foot leashes to maintain control. Single-File Order: Dogs often walk in a line behind or beside their handlers, creating a calm, unified rhythm. The Benefits: Many trainers and walkers champion pack walks because they tap into a dog's pack mentality. Benefits include: Socialization without Stress: It helps reactive or fearful dogs learn to be calm in public and around other dogs without the pressure of direct interaction. Energy Burn: Walking in a group provides physical exercise and mental stimulation, resulting in a tired, well-behaved dog. Confidence Building: Walking through real-life distractions (cars, pedestrians, noises) builds a dog's trust in their human pack.
