On another episode of riding in cars with dogs.. Today one of Allphin Veterinary Clinic own, Emma, came and gave our girl Journey a day out of the kennel. Journey got herself a pup cup and some water time, met some people and made some good impressions!
Journey was in Nixa pound for somewhere around 410 days and was about to be euthanized. For the Love of K9s contacted me for help when they were not having any luck finding a foster home. I saw something in her that spoke to me. Journey deserved to feel love, it's what she wants to give. So much time being in kennels has her struggling with in the kennel with high stimulation from other dogs barking and she gets herself very worked up and as a result she suffers with a lot of anxiety. A little time out of the kennel today was SO needed. It also gave me so much insight on how she is away from the kennel since we have never seen her in any other environment. Her report was that she wanted to be everyone's friend, she made some friends and good impressions, even a some inquiries. Next time Emma is bringing her dog and we are going test her again. Sometimes the stress of the kennel makes it hard to test and to get a fair reading.
This is why I try to impress upon people that even just a foster for the day can help us write a completely different story for an animal that looks like they are too much, too hyper, too mean, too anything.. Fosters make a world of difference in the future of these dogs! Thank you for all you guys do to support the shelter and the animals! There are no words to express the gratitude!! Emma you're an angel and we thank you with all our hearts! β€οΈπΎπΆ
