Charlie had a gorgeous overo stud c**t!

Charlie is a home-raised full draft mare and a special part of our program. She is half Gypsy Vanner, sired by Scout, and half Percheron out of our mare June. This is Charlie’s very first baby, and we couldn’t be more impressed!

This handsome boy is sired by our registered Percheron stud, Chek, making him 3/4 Percheron and 1/4 Gypsy Vanner. What a cross! He has the size, color, and presence that make us excited about his future.

As many of you know, our 2026 foal naming theme is patriotic in honor of America’s 250th birthday. Yesterday, with your help, we named our first-born stud c**t of the year Patriot.

Now it’s this little guy’s turn!

What patriotic name would you choose for him? 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who shared name suggestions for our first draft cross c**t of 2026. We loved reading all of your patriotic ideas!

Since we’re celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a patriotic naming theme this year, we decided it was only fitting that our first c**t kick things off with a classic name…

🇺🇸Patriot🇺🇸

We think it suits him perfectly. This handsome boy is already turning heads, and we can’t wait to watch him grow. Patriot is out of our incredible home-raised draft cross mare Cougar and sired by our registered Gypsy Vanner stud, Scout.

Welcome to the world, Patriot! We have a feeling you’re going to make us proud. ❤️🤍💙

What do you think of his name?

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures out there!

We’re especially grateful for the fathers who teach the next generation the value of hard work, integrity, perseverance, and caring for the animals and land entrusted to us.

As we celebrate today, we’re also soaking up every minute with Cougar’s incredible draft cross stud c**t. This handsome boy is sired by our registered Gypsy Vanner stallion, Scout, and we couldn’t be happier.

Now we need your help naming him!

Drop your best name ideas in the comments. Our theme this year is Patriotic to go along with America’s 250th birthday. What name do you think will fit this special tri-colored c**t?

And from our family to yours, we wish you a very Happy Father’s Day! 🇺🇸🐴

Some horses come into this world with a little extra grit.

Cougar is one of them.

We raised Cougar right here on Lazy Six Nine Ranch. When she was just 10 days old, she was attacked by a mountain lion (thus, her name). The injuries were horrific, and the odds were not in her favor. We were faced with a difficult decision, but there was something about her that told us she wasn’t ready to quit.

She had a fire in her eyes and a determination that couldn’t be ignored.

So we gave her a fighting chance.

Day by day, Cougar battled through pain, setbacks, and a long recovery. She refused to give up. That little filly grew into a beautiful draft cross mare and became a living reminder that perseverance can overcome even the toughest circumstances.

Today, Cougar is thriving and raising babies of her own.

This year, she blessed us with our very first draft cross foal of the season…an impressive stud c**t who already has us excited about his future.

Cougar’s story is a reminder that no matter what comes your way, you can keep moving forward. The road may not be easy, but strength is often forged in the hardest moments.

She is a shining beacon of hope on our ranch and a true symbol of resilience.

Tomorrow we’ll be sharing photos of Cougar and her handsome new c**t. Trust us…you won’t want to miss them.

Stay tuned! ❤️🐴

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately…but that’s because we’ve been busy doing ranch things! Truthfully, there wasn’t much to report.

After the tough winter we had last year, we turned our studs out about two weeks later than usual. The girls have been holding tight, keeping us waiting and wondering.

But the wait is finally over!

We’re excited to announce that we officially have some draft cross babies on the ground! 🇺🇸🐴

More photos and details are coming soon, but we need your help. As many of you know, our 2026 foals are carrying on our patriotic naming theme in honor of America’s 250th birthday.

We will be asking for your help naming each and every one of these special babies.

Stay tuned…the baby season has officially begun at Lazy Six Nine Ranch! ❤️🤍💙

The waiting game continues at Lazy Six Nine Ranch!

No draft cross babies have arrived just yet, but believe me, we’re on foal watch every single day. Every morning starts with checking mares, and every evening ends the same way. Any day now, our pastures will be filled with little feet, cute faces, and all the excitement that comes with a new foal crop.

The anticipation is real! We can’t wait to meet this year’s babies and see the colors, personalities, and potential they bring. Until then, we’ll keep watching, waiting, and making those extra trips to the pastures.

Who’s ready for foal pictures? We know we are. Hope the babies start arriving soon!🐴❤️

There are few things ranchers appreciate more than a good rain.

Today, we’re celebrating every drop.

After watching the skies and hoping for moisture, seeing the rain finally fall is a blessing. It means greener pastures, healthier livestock, and renewed hope for the months ahead. Out here, rain isn’t just weather…it’s life.

We’re grateful for God’s provision, thankful for the beauty of this land, and reminded once again that some of the best things are completely beyond our control.

Today, we’ll gladly trade sunshine for rain clouds.

What a beautiful day to be a rancher in Montana! 🌧️💚

Some horses leave hoofprints so deep on your heart that they can never be replaced.

Today we had to say goodbye to our beloved mare, #8.

After losing her foal and battling a rapidly moving infection, the hardest decision had to be made. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve ranched or how many hard things you’ve faced…some losses still bring you to your knees.

#8 blessed us with a beautiful half draft foal every single year. She was dependable, kind, tough, and the kind of mare every ranch hopes to have. She had been with us since the very beginning. Through the years she helped build our program and carried a piece of our dreams with her.

She wore a number 8 brand on her right hind quarter…but #8 was more than a number to me.

She was family. Speaking of that, we bought her and her sister from my parents. We lost my dad last November…so losing her today is even harder for me.

We are thankful to still have two of her offspring with us, and that brings us comfort during this heartbreaking loss. A piece of her will continue on here at our ranch for years to come.

We are going to miss her more than words can say.

Run free, sweet girl. Thank you for everything.🥹🫶🏼

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend…it is a reminder of the sacrifice, courage, and selflessness of those who served this country with honor.

Here at Lazy Six Nine Ranch, we are deeply grateful for the freedoms we enjoy and the heroes who made them possible. We remember the fallen, pray for their families, and honor the legacy they left behind.

May we never forget that freedom comes at a cost.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
