Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County Board of Directors meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6pm at the Redwood Valley Grange, Redwood Valley, CA.

Big name, even bigger heart!

Machete is a sweet, gentle guy. During his time in foster care, we discovered one of his favorite things in the world: enthusiastic head scratches and what his foster family lovingly calls "aggressive pets!" He'll happily lean in for more and reward you with adorable head bonks.

Machete is also a big fan of other cats, and we think he would do well with a feline friend to help him feel at home. He's a very good boy looking for a patient, loving family that will give him the time and support he needs to blossom. He has also been fostered with dogs in the home.

If you're looking for a sweet companion with a soft heart and plenty of love to give, Machete may be your perfect match.

She’s a calm, sweet girl who’s still adjusting to the hustle and bustle of shelter life. Pink Lady enjoys quiet companionship, soft head scratches, and gentle pets—but don’t be surprised if she’s tucked under her blankies during your visit. Here are notes from her foster: "I finally got a pretty good pic of Pink Lady (aka Stinky aka The Potato). I think it shows what an absolute love she is. She's really come out of her shell. She loves bedtime, lots and lots of scritches. She will go mad for a belly rub and is hilariously squirmy, wiggle wiggle wiggle. You can pick her up easily; she just folds into your arms." With time, patience, and a peaceful home, Pink Lady is sure to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.

We had a pet pantry “customer” today… hoping to seize her opportunity to steal come extra snacks from the delicious smelling food bins!

🎆 The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of year for lost pets. 🎆

While fireworks may be fun for people, they can be frightening and overwhelming for our furry family members. A scared pet can panic, escape a yard, jump a fence, or bolt through an open door in seconds.

🐾 Keep pets safely indoors during fireworks
🐾 Create a quiet, comfortable space for them to relax turn on the tv
🐾 Make sure collars and ID tags are up to date
🐾 Check that microchip information is current
🐾 Talk with your veterinarian now if your pet experiences anxiety during fireworks

Don’t wait until the last minute—veterinary appointments and calming medications may not be available right before the holiday.

What a treasure this dog is!

Hanky Panky was found wandering the vineyards of Redwood Valley, patiently waiting for someone to help him. Calm, gentle, and full of quiet charm, Hank has become a favorite among our volunteers—and for good reason.

Now our longest-term resident, Hank has been spending time in a foster home and has proven himself to be a wonderful house guest. He enjoys lounging around the house (especially on the couch!), loves going for walks, and is happy just being near his people.

This sweet boy is ready to trade shelter life for a home of his own. Whether you're looking to foster or adopt, Hank would love the chance to show you what a great companion he can be.
