Dr. Kay has been here for a few weeks now, and you haven't seen much from us on it since the horses of Central Oregon have been keeping her VERY busy!

We have been seeing many cases of habronema right now - in this video, Dr. Kay discusses the condition and what to do if you think your horse might have it.

Reminder - a squinty/tearing eye is always an emergency, and with habronea around, we have been seeing many horses with painful eyes!

✨ Meet Dr. Kay! ✨

We're thrilled to officially introduce the newest member of our veterinary team!

Dr. Kay earned both her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University before completing a one-year combined internship at Austin Equine Hospital in Austin, Texas.

Her professional interests include preventative care, equine dentistry, sports medicine, diagnostic imaging, and reproduction.

Her love for horses began at just two years old, when her family moved across the street from neighbors with a small herd of horses. Those neighbors encouraged her passion, eventually entrusting her with the care of their horses and even gifting her her first horse. Thanks to the support of so many mentors, family members, and friends along the way, that childhood dream became a career.

Outside of work, you'll find Dr. Kay trail riding her beloved Quarab mare, Jade (who she's had since middle school!), spending time with Hermione—her sweet but wonderfully orange cat—or planning her next adventure. She enjoys volunteering with Christian Veterinary Mission and has participated in veterinary service trips to Mongolia and Honduras. She's also a fan of Broadway musicals, hiking to hidden swimming holes, making music on the piano and guitar, and game nights with family and friends.

Be sure to say hello when you see her around the barn—we're so excited to have her on our team, and we know you'll love getting to know her!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

In obervance of the holiday, our clinic will be closed on Monday, May 25th. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.

As always, we are grateful for the trust you place in us to care for your horses. Wishing you and your families a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
