Foster vs shelter for this little old lady Helen. šŸ„¹
The last picture is Helen when she arrived at the shelter... What a difference even just a little time in a home can make on a shelter dog!

Helen came to us as a stray and needed a little extra tender love and care from our vet team. Sheā€™s unable to make her own tears, so sheā€™s currently on eye medication to help keep her eyes comfortable and feeling their best. She will also be getting a full dental with our vet team very soon so in the meantime sheā€™s soaking up foster life. Her fosters say: ā€œShe is so happy and LOVES her people both men and women. She is constantly wagging her tail and sits up like a little prairie dog to hold your arm as you pet her. She does indeed love a slow walk and basking in the sun. She would love if humans shared all their food she seems especially taken with pizza. Sheā€™s super friendly with my dogs just sniffs them and wags.ā€œ

Loki might just be your new ranch hand! šŸ® This 6-year-old Lab mix hasnā€™t had much adoption interest since arriving nearly 2 months ago, so we sent him out on a dog day out and now have so much wonderful insight on him!

His dog day out pals said that they started with a 4-mile hike, where they discovered that he knows commands like here, come, sit, and besides some pulling, had good leash manners. Loki then visited a barn where he was a bit unsure of the cows at first, but after a while, settled down and decided they were harmless. He also made friends with the horses on the property and even offered one a kiss through the fence!

Here at the shelter, Loki loves his people, absolutely loves toys, is starting to learn how to make other dog friends, and has done amazing with kids!

If you could use a little help around the farm, or are just looking for a really awesome dog, come meet Loki at BrightSide, he would love to meet you!

We have quite a few adult cats, juveniles, and kittens who are looking for foster homes right now.

If you have a spare bathroom, an extra room, or even just a home that could use a little extra company, consider fostering a cat! Some of the cats we have needing foster are super low maintenance and really just need a comfy place to crash for a little while.

Can we count on you as a new foster? šŸ’›
We have four of the cutest puppies looking for temporary foster homes right now until they can have surgery and be seen by our vet. We also have adult cats who need foster homes, which is a little different for us! They donā€™t need a forever home right now, just somewhere they can relax, get some love and hang out outside of the shelter for a bit.

Tomorrow looks a little different at BrightSide!

We are starting off the day with a special staff and volunteer training, so our doors will be opening an hour later than usual. Weā€™re excited to spend the morning learning, growing, and getting even better at what we do for the animals!
