Did you know COID operates more than 700 miles of canals and laterals to deliver water across Central Oregon?

Established in 1918, the Central Oregon Irrigation District (COID) serves approximately 45,000 irrigated acres throughout Bend, Redmond, Terrebonne, Alfalfa, and Powell Butte.

Water is delivered through two primary canal systems:
🔹 Pilot Butte Canal (PB Canal) – Serving Bend, Redmond, and Terrebonne
🔹 Central Oregon Canal (CO Canal) – Serving Bend, Alfalfa, and Powell Butte

To efficiently manage water delivery, maintenance, and patron needs, COID divides the system into eight service areas called "Beats." Each Beat is assigned a dedicated Patrolman who monitors water deliveries, canal conditions, and operational issues within their area.

Planning Ahead Matters
Water doesn't move instantly through a 700-mile canal system. If additional water needs to be moved through the system, it can take:

- Up to 48 hours for most delivery adjustments
- Up to 72 hours in some circumstances, depending on water availability and system conditions.

A Few Helpful Reminders

✔ Know which Beat your property is located in.
✔ Contact the COID office for water orders and service requests
✔ Plan irrigation needs ahead of time
✔ Report emergencies through the appropriate channels

Your Patrolman is here to help manage water delivery and system operations, but they are not law enforcement and may need assistance from supervisors for certain issues.
