âStop picking your next dog like youâre choosing a purse., or a home decor item!
Workingâline German Shepherds are not dĂ©cor pieces. Theyâre not Labradors. Theyâre not accessories. Theyâre dogs bred for purpose, genetics, structure, and work.
âIâve always wanted a sable.â
âI only want a solid black.â
âI have to have a long coat.â
No. đ
A puppy doesnât âpick you.â A puppy shows puppy behavior cute, chaotic, clueless. Youâre not going to know everything about a puppy at eight weeks, no matter who you are. That puppy is going to grow, change, develop, and become whatever its genetics, environment, structure, and your actual effort allow it to become.
People spend more time obsessing over color than asking whether they can handle the dog theyâre pointing at. Then six months later:
âWhy is he so crazy?â
âWhy does he need so much exercise?â
âWhy is he destroying my house?â
âWhy canât I control him?â
Because genetics donât care what color you wanted. đđ§
With working breeds, you should be looking at temperament, drive, energy, structure, genetics, and purpose not the shade of the coat. And you should be looking at your own lifestyle asking, âCan I actually provide what this dog needs?â
This is where reputable breeders matter.
We spend weeks observing these puppies from birth. We know their tendencies long before you see them. Temperament tests are fine, but theyâre only indicators puppies change. Weâre not letting someone point at the âprettiestâ one and slap down a deposit.
This is exactly why we absolutely require an application.
It helps us understand who you are, what you need, and what kind of dog will truly thrive with you. Weâre not handing out puppies based on coat color alone. Of course, it's an added bonus when it does work out that way but not always! We intend for these working dogs to go to homes where they can succeed for the next 10â15 years! â€
Pick the dog you can live with.
Not the color you canât stop staring at.
Because when that cute little fluffball becomes a 70â90 lb adult with real needs, âbut I loved the colorâ isnât going to mean a damn thing. đ
Do your research. Know what youâre getting into. Be honest about what you can handle.
The right dog matters WAY more than the prettiest dog in the litter. đŸ
