Ranger Animal Shelter is ran by Animal Control Officer Carrie Pilant. Our shelter welcomes all donations and support. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

Donations can be made at the Ranger Police Department. You can also show your support by liking and sharing post pertaining to adoptions, public education, etc. Normal Business hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
For emergencies please call 911 or 254-210-1567

Please follow all local ordinances and stay up to date on the ever changing State and Federal laws concerning animals. We encourage all citizens to report any concerns regarding animals. Services all Animal Control Officers provide. ENFORCING ALL LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL ANIMAL LAWS

Facilitating registration of dogs and cats within the city. Providing temporary housing and humane care and treatment for all shelter animals. Responding effectively and efficiently to all animal-bite cases. Creating collaborative partnerships and training with outside agencies, rescue groups, and volunteers to promote adoptions and reduce euthanasia rate(s). Overseeing rabies quarantines

Investigating dangerous and vicious dog cases

Preventing unnecessary shelter intake and helping reunite lost pets with their people

Inspecting pet stores and animal rescues

Investigating animal neglect, cruelty, hoarding, and intentional acts of abuse

Following up on veterinary and court-ordered inspections of homes

Mitigating complaints about outdoor and free-roaming cats

Rescuing lost and stray animals that are sick, injured or in immediate danger. Catching and/or trapping individual loose dogs

Assisting pet owners who are in crisis, including incarceration and evictions

Responding to emergencies

Assisting pet owners experiencing homelessness

Managing welfare cases and sick or injured wildlife, exotic animals, and farmed animals

Providing humane education and outreach

Provide information to owners on humane pet care

🎄✨ BIG NEWS, RANGER! WINTER FEST IS GETTING A BIG HOLIDAY MAKEOVER! ✨🎄

We’re switching things up this year, and we couldn’t be more excited! ❤️🎅

Instead of our usual location at the Gazebo, Ranger’s Winter Fest is moving to the OLD GYMNASIUM on South Marston Street! And this year, we’re bringing you TWO DAYS of holiday fun, shopping, entertainment, and Christmas magic! 🎁❄️

We’ve teamed up with the Ranger Community Quarter Store, and the Woodbridge Church to make this year’s Winter Fest bigger and better than ever!

🐱🎉 BIG NEWS, RANGER! WE HAVE CAT KENNELS! 🎉🐱

We are SO excited to share a HUGE milestone for our little shelter… WE CAN NOW HELP CATS, TOO! 🐾❤️

We currently have 4 cat kennels, and while that may not seem like a lot, this is a BIG step forward for our shelter and our community! Every little step gets us closer to helping more animals in need, and we couldn’t be more excited about this new opportunity! 🥹🐈

✨ And the best part? These kennels are stackable! As we’re able to purchase more, we can stack them up to 3 high, allowing us to expand our cat capacity without taking up a ton of extra space. Plus, they’re fairly inexpensive, which means we have a realistic way to grow our cat program over time!

🐾 AND WE ALREADY HAVE OUR FIRST LITTLE VISITOR! 🐱💕

Now that we’re able to welcome cats, we would LOVE a little help getting our kitty supplies stocked up!

😻 Our biggest needs right now are:
🐾 Cat food (wet and dry)
🐾 Kitty litter
🐾 Cat toys
🐾 Any other cat supplies you’d like to donate!

These two absolutely gorgeous boys are looking for families to call their own! They are half Golden Retriever and half German Shepherd, which means they have a wonderful combination of intelligence, loyalty, affection, and playful personalities! ❤️

These handsome fellas will celebrate their FIRST BIRTHDAY in December, and we would love nothing more than to see them celebrating with families of their very own! 🎂🐾

Our hearts are SO FULL today! ❤️🏡 These precious little babies have officially found their forever families, and we couldn’t be happier! 🥹🐶

We didn’t get a picture, but we have even MORE exciting news… SWEET PAUL WAS ADOPTED TODAY TOO! 🎉❤️ After patiently waiting for his special someone, Paul finally got his happy ending!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who opened their hearts and homes today! Days like today remind us exactly why we do what we do. Every adoption is a life changed, a second chance, and a new beginning. 🐾

These little nuggets barely fit in the palm of your hand, but don’t let their size fool you. They’re packed with cuddles, kisses, personality, and just enough mischief to make the Hawkins crew proud.

They’re looking for their very own partner in crime someone to investigate mysterious noises in the kitchen, protect them from Demogorgons, share a blanket during late-night Netflix marathons, and maybe sneak them a waffle or two. 🧇✨

🐾 Paul is still here… patiently waiting for someone to choose him. 🥺💙

His brother Henry recently found his forever home, and while we are SO happy for Henry, poor little Paul has been a little sad without his best buddy by his side. Now we’re hoping it’s finally Paul’s turn.

This precious boy is only 10 pounds, but somehow he manages to fit an enormous amount of love into that tiny little body. He’s sweet, affectionate, cuddly, and just wants someone he can call his own.

Paul doesn’t need much a warm lap, a safe place to sleep, lots of snuggles, and a person who will look at him and say, “You’re coming home with me.” ❤️

He watched his brother get chosen. Now we’re hoping someone walks through the door and chooses him.

Bella escaped, and our family is desperately trying to get her home safely. She is a very sweet girl and is not just a dog; she is my grandmother’s baby. We are all worried about her and just want to make sure she is safe.
If you live in or around Ranger, Texas, please keep an eye out for Bella, especially around Pershing Street and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Henry and Paul are two sweet little guys who are about 1 year old and ready to trade shelter life for a forever family! These boys are full of love, personality, and plenty of cuddles and they’re just waiting for someone to call their own.

🎉 WE’RE BACK AND WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! 🐾❤️

We are SO excited to finally say that our shelter repairs are complete, we’ve moved back in, and Ranger Animal Shelter is officially back in full swing!

Getting to this point took a village, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for every single person, business, and organization that stepped up when we needed our community the most.

A HUGE thank you to the wonderful people at Food for Thought and the Ranger Community Quarter Store for putting together an incredible fundraiser for our shelter because of their generosity and everyone who supported their fundraiser, they were able to purchase almost everything on our Amazon Wish List AND help pay down our veterinary bill! That support made an enormous difference for us.

To EVERYONE who donated when our donation fund was depleted thank you. Every dollar, every supply, every shared post, and every person who asked, “How can I help?” reminded us just how fortunate we are to serve a community that cares so deeply about its animals.

A very special thank you to Lannette Schlumbohm who also stepped in to help us with our outstanding veterinary bills. ❤️

We also want to thank The Alliance Gazette for taking the time to tell our shelter’s story and helping us spread the word about our needs. The list of people who have helped us could truly go on forever, and we hope you know how deeply appreciated you are.
Now that those doors are open again… we’re already caring for 14 dogs! 🐶🐾

Fourteen sweet babies who need food, vaccinations, medical care, comfort, love, and ultimately families of their own. We may have finished the repairs, but the work never stops and we are so incredibly happy to be doing it again.

While our shelter is repaired and operational, our donation fund is still depleted, so if you would like to help us continue caring for Ranger’s animals, we would be incredibly grateful.
