Dr. Muri Szabo to retire on July 30, 2026
It is with mixed emotions that we announce Dr. Szabo’s retirement from Hidden Valley Animal Hospital on July 30, 2026.
He is incredibly grateful for the privilege of being able to be a part of your families for so many years, and will cherish the relationships he has built with so many of you for years to come. Dr. Szabo has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1985. There aren’t very many veterinarians who are able to practice for 41 years, so that is a privilege in and of itself.
Dr. Szabo came to Hidden Valley in July of 2003, and became Medical Director in 2004. For 23 years, he has been the lifeblood and backbone of our practice. His strong belief in living by The Golden Rule has shaped the way we practice medicine, do business, and treat each other; it has been critical to our success as a practice. He can be proud of the work he’s done here, and the legacy he’s built will live on in Hidden Valley long after he has gone.
As Medical Director, he leaves big shoes to fill. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Amy Valenzisi has accepted the position. We are confident in her medicine, her dedication to the hospital, and her keen eye for a**lysis as we forge ahead in a new era. While we are sad about the departure of Dr. Szabo, we are excited about the future with Dr. V. Having joined Hidden Valley in 2008, she knows the hospital better than anybody, and has a long history of building relationships with you and your families. She is excited to take on the responsibility and exercise her leadership skills.
We want to congratulate Dr. Szabo on his well-earned and well-deserved retirement, and his full-time dedication to learning how to play golf. He’ll figure it out one of these days; he just needs more practice. We will miss him so much, but we know this is a great thing, and we are excited for him.
We are planning an Open House on Saturday, August 1st, from 2-4pm at Hidden Valley. Come by and say hi, shed a tear, and have some snacks! We look forward to seeing you!
