I know Gabe has been a bit of a favorite around here. This boy has really come out of his shell since coming back to us and turned into an absolutely awesome, loveable boy. While we're in zero rush to place him, I'm starting to be willing to consider next steps for him, so with that in mind…
Gabe is casually looking for the perfect co-own situation local to Raleigh, NC where he can stay intact.
He has been an absolute pleasure to have around, but he DOES think that girls are a bit more interesting than food and drops weight when they're in season. While it's manageable, it's also not super fair to him that I currently have three girls that can't seem to decide on one time to cycle. Ideally, a home for Gabe would be either boys only or include only traditionally spayed girls, but we may consider a home with one intact or OSS girls for the perfect situation otherwise.
Gabe is a beautiful dog that came back with some lack of socialization and, while he's improved by leaps and bounds, he will need someone willing to continue working on exposure with him. I firmly believe that to a home willing to put in the work, he has the potential to do well in the show ring (and I plan to continue showing him as long as he's with me) or sports, as he's come an incredibly long way in a very short span of time. He does not HAVE to show or do sports, but would do best in an active home.
He has incredible ball drive and good working food drive, and while he's got plenty of energy and willingness to go “do all the things”, he's just as happy to cuddle on the couch or chill on a patio, ESPECIALLY if pup cups are involved. He sometimes takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once he does he becomes everyone's new best friend.
Gabe is generally well mannered in the house and house trained, though does wear a belly band in the house currently - he will mark when girls are in season and, while it's rare, does make the occasional bad decision when he's excited. We are working on reintroducing crate training, which is going well. He rides well in the car in a crate and loves to go on adventures, walks well on a leash, and while he was originally trained as a “show dog” is doing well learning other basic commands.
So far Gabe has completed BAER, Spine, and DNA testing and all has come back normal. Both parents are OFA CHIC + Spine + SBA as well. We will continue health testing at our expense if he find a placement prior to testing completion.
Please reach out if you'd like to discuss Gabe further.
