Betsy is our Senior Sunday Pet from WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center.

Betsy is a sweet, 8-year-old cat who loves people. She is very friendly and likes to Meow her hellos as you walk by her kennel.

Some of those Meows sound like "Go Canes." Since Betsy is already spayed you can bring her home today and let her cheer on the Canes from your couch tonight.

The WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center is open for adoptions from 12-6 every day (excluding holidays), including today. Come visit at 820 Beacon Lake Dr in Raleigh NC.

Betsy's adoption fee (as a cat over 5 years old) is just $15. She is up to date on major vaccines and spayed.

See Comments for a link to the WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center pet gallery where you can view all of the adoptable pets.

That look says a lot! It might say I am a 10 month old energetic puppy, so, "Wanta Play?"

Wabie is a young, shiny black lab pup around 56 pounds and still growing with the perfect mix of sweet, silly, and spirited.

He was recently returned after a few months with his adopter through no fault of his own. Wabie was just being who a 10 month old puppy is. The adopter realized that their medical condition would not allow them to properly train and entertain an energetic, large puppy and brought Wabie back to find the perfect home. The adopters had nothing but good things to say about Wabie "Housetrained, well-mannered and very respectful".

Wabie loves having fun with dog friends and is just as happy switching between wrestling and snuggling. With his charming energy and affectionate nature, this handsome little guy is sure to bring lots of joy and laughter to his future home.

Wabie is already neutered so he can come home with you the very day you fall in love with him.

If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at [email protected] with the subject line "Wabie 266649".

Even better, come visit him at the WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center. They are open for adoptions 12-6 every day except holidays (the Shelter is closed Friday 6/19 for the holiday). Located at 820 Beacon Lake Dr in Raleigh NC.

48 animals who came into the WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center are still looking to be reclaimed by their owners or adopted.

If an animal is On Stray Hold they can still be met and a Pending Adoption can be placed. That means if their owner does not reclaim them they will be adopted out to the person with the Pending Adoption.
Please always check the Pet Gallery (link in comments) for the latest info including whether an animal listed will be placed up for adoption.

The shelter is open for adoptions from 12-6 every day except holidays (closed on Friday 6/19 for the holiday). Located at 820 Beacon Lake Dr in Raleigh NC.

Special Adoption fees: any dog or cat that’s been at the shelter for more than two weeks is available for just $25 for dogs and “name your price” for cats. The regular adoption fees are $95 for dogs, $45 for cats under five years old, and $15 for cats that are greater than five years old.

Ronald is a classic Boxer with a delightful prance and floppy ears that bounce along with every step. Curious and people-oriented, he likes to check in frequently-not just to see if treats are involved, but to make sure he isn't missing out on any fun. He's easy to walk, warms up quickly to new people, and always seems to be investigating his surroundings. Being a bit underweight, he's also known to search for any snacks neighboring dogs may have left behind. Ronald needs a cat-free home. In doggie playgroups, he coexisted comfortably with a spayed female and would likely do best with a confident, spayed canine companion.

He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.

If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at [email protected] with the subject line "Ronald, 269085".

Have you wondered what it's like to be a dog walker volunteer at the WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center. Check out this video of one of my recent Friday night shifts.

Right now we could really use some more dog walking volunteers. The highest need times are 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm. If dog walking isn't for you there are a dozen other roles from laundry, to playgroups, to cat cuddling, to small critter care, to greeting people and making them feel welcome when they visit the shelter.

Here is a link to apply to be a volunteer and learn more about all the program: https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/animal-services/how-help/volunteer-program

Peanut is sweetness wrapped in a furry package. When she sees her favorite people-or meets someone new-her little feet break into an adorable pitty-patty dance, and she squints her eyes into what can only be described as a full-body smile. She's incredibly gentle, even when she tries to sneak in a kiss with the softest little hop. This low-energy girl walks beautifully on leash without pulling or reacting. In playgroups, Peanut is a dainty, sensitive soul who prefers wandering, sniffing, and quietly greeting friends over roughhousing. She may occasionally dash through doors, but we suspect that's just her eagerness to be with her people.

If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at [email protected] with the subject line "Peanut, 268980". You can meet her at the Wake County Animal Center between 12:00 - 6:00pm.
