We’ve got a Saturday morning grow-up for you! 🐾 We can't call it a "glow-up" because—let’s be honest—Lou has always been handsome 😍. But look at him almost one year later! From his very first puppy visit through his "unicorn" stage, Lou’s sit is still top-tier, and he remains the absolute goodest of good boys. 🐶✨

To kick off the week, we want to share a story about a brave pup named Ruby!🐾❤️🐑
Ruby came to see us after her owners noticed she just wasn't acting like herself one evening—she was wobbly, trembling, lacked an appetite, and needed to go outside frequently. Because her yard had been treated earlier that day, pesticide exposure was initially suspected. Poison Control recommended a thorough bath and monitoring, but overnight, Ruby’s symptoms worsened.

When Ruby returned the next morning, her lack of progress led us to run deeper diagnostics. Her lab results revealed abnormal electrolyte and cortisol levels—pointing straight toward Hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s disease). An ACTH Stimulation test confirmed the diagnosis.

Thanks to her owners’ quick observations, Ruby was diagnosed early! She was started on low-dose prednisone and monthly Percorten injections, and we are thrilled to report that she is feeling much better and back to her happy self.

What is Addison’s Disease?
Addison’s disease occurs when the adrenal glands fail to produce enough essential hormones (cortisol and aldosterone) needed to regulate stress and electrolyte balance.
💉The Catch: Symptoms can be vague and come and go (lethargy, weakness, appetite loss).
💉The Risk: Untreated cases can lead to a severe, life-threatening "Addisonian Crisis."
💉The Good News: With prompt diagnosis, routine injections, and lab monitoring, dogs with Addison's disease can live full, happy lives!

Never hesitate to give our hospital a call if you notice any unusual changes in your pet’s behavior—no matter how small. We’re always here for you! ❤️
