This is good. How do you teach a robot about squirrels.... And dogs?!

A company lost $100,000 after testing a robot on a dog walk, and everything fell apart the second the dog saw a squirrel.

In late April 2023, a team of scientists believed they were finally ready to test a robot designed to handle real-life tasks, including walking a dog. After plenty of planning and simulations, they wanted to see how it would perform in an actual everyday situation.

At first, everything seemed fine.

But the second the dog spotted a squirrel, the whole test went wrong. The dog suddenly took off, dragged the robot with it, and sent the machine crashing hard enough to destroy it.

What was supposed to be a breakthrough ended up costing the company around $100,000, all because they forgot one simple thing: real dogs do not care about simulations.

Do you love spending time with dogs but aren't in a position to foster--we can still use your help! All of our fosters are volunteers and sometimes life plans conflict with adoption events. We get requests every week from fosters who would love for their adoptable dog to attend an event, but can't bring them personally. That's where we need YOUR help! You can volunteer just a few hours of your time to bring a dog to an event--and hopefully get them noticed by potential adopters! Some dogs may be on leashes and need someone to bring them/handle them at the event, while our little ones are confined to puppy pens and need someone to "puppy sit" them while people come to snuggle. It's an easy way that you can make a big difference for our rescue!

Like people some dogs are the social butterflies and some dogs are the night owls or scaredy cats. ***ie loves dogs are bigger the better as long as he doesn't meet them on a leash then he becomes a Tasmanian devil. And he doesn't like people approaching me which makes it difficult for me to socialize with him. We're working on it. But what I know is this He deserves to be who he is I'm glad he wants to protect me but he also needs to learn his boundaries . Dog training is so important. I'm not changing my dog. I'm just mindfully adjusting his behavior. Sometimes it's not an easy process He's been with me for years. He lets other people pet him now which is amazing. He's just one of those dogs that didn't have an easy start And I was chosen to adopt him because I get it. And at the end of the day he's always not just a good boy but the best boy 💖🐕

For all you old dogs out there as pet parents This is for you as a human to keep up with our world. Somehow it will help us with our pets or to be better pet parents or to know or have more knowledge or even help solve the pet population crisis and somehow help all the non-profit rescues and shelters. let's hope that's how it works. And if not let's learn it so we can make it work that way.
