Raleigh City Farm

Raleigh City Farm We're a nonprofit urban farm connecting and nourishing our community through regenerative agriculture

Raleigh City Farm is a nonprofit urban farm founded in 2011 on a formerly vacant one-acre lot in downtown Raleigh. We believe in the power of urban farms to create healthier communities and reconnect city dwellers with healthy food production through more frequent encounters with agriculture. We believe that turning vacant lots into productive, nourishing farmland can create something from nothing

– an amenity from an eyesore. We invite our community to “dig in” and advance our mission by signing up for a workshop, taking a tour, attending a special event, and volunteering to help maintain our farm site.

Our First Saturday series is back this weekend on June 6th! You’re invited to kick off the month with some fresh air and good company at the Farm.

Our Volunteer Workshop is all filled up but there is still room for our Water Bath Canning For Beginners Workshop with Bethany of Barn Cat Jam Co.

We’ll be exploring the world of food preservation through homemade jam. Learn about at-home canning (like jam, jellies, pickle) and we’ll even make a delicious bath of shelf-stable strawberry jam 🍓🍓🍓

Stroll the grounds, enjoy the season’s beauty, and drop in to shop our Flower Pop-Up 💐 More details and workshop registration: https://raleighcityfarm.org/events/first-saturday-june-2026

See you on Saturday!

Flashback Friday ⚡️ To March 2012! Our very first workday with the NC State University Volleyball Team where we were laying down the first beds for the first growing season with mulch, cardboard, and coffee bags.

It’s wild to see how much has changed (and grown) since then.

Can you identify any of these original Farm Friends?! 👀

As part of our series, we took a walk through the recipe archives and rounded up the 15 most-loved Farmstand recipes shared over the years by chefs, farmers, volunteers, and home cooks in our community.

From muscadine vinaigrette and farm soup to tomato sauce, arugula pesto, and summer quesadillas… these recipes tell the story of what happens after the harvest. 🥬✨

One of the greatest joys of the Farm has always been seeing fresh, local produce make its way into your kitchens, dinner tables, and traditions. Every recipe shared over the years has helped make seasonal, local food feel more approachable, creative, and connected.

Huge gratitude to every contributor who shared their kitchen magic with us over the years. You helped bring the mission of the Farm to life far beyond our rows and fields.

This we’re celebrating the abundance, care, and connection that agriculture brings.

This year’s theme “Together We Grow” is especially important to us. From our downtown roots to our expansion at Marsh Creek Park, this next chapter is powered by community, collaboration, and a shared commitment to growing good food and deeper connections.

Rooted in Growth & Stability 🌱 We’re stepping into a new chapter at Raleigh City Farm.

Our 2026–2029 Strategic Plan reflects a pivotal moment in our journey, moving from our early proof-of-concept years into a mature, multi-site urban farm grounded in regenerative agriculture and collective stewardship.

This plan honors where we started while preparing us for what’s ahead. Guided by community input and board leadership, we’re focusing on four key priorities:

• Expanding visibility & storytelling
• Strengthening fundraising & supporter pathways
• Stabilizing operations across two farm sites
• Building resilience for climate, land, and leadership shifts

At its heart, this next season is about rooting growth in stability, nurturing our people, and sharing our story more boldly, all while staying true to our grassroots soul.
