We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Haley Burger will officially be seeing patients starting Monday, June 1st!

Many of you may already recognize Dr. Burger, as she has been part of the Riverside family for years. She first joined our team as a sophomore at Radford University (Go Highlanders!) as a kennel assistant and quickly advanced into a treatment role, where her passion for veterinary medicine truly shined. After graduating from Radford, Dr. Burger continued her education by earning her Master’s in Veterinary Forensics from University of Florida (Go Gators!). She then went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Hokies!).

Dr. Burger has a special interest in dentistry, internal medicine, and imaging and we are incredibly excited to have her bring her knowledge and compassion to our patients and clients.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Burger enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Brie.

This weekend, our wonderful veterinary assistant William tied the knot with Kelsie, one of our former team members!

We are so incredibly happy for the both of them as they start this exciting new chapter together. William has been such an important part of our clinic family, and many of you may remember Kelsie from her time with us as well.

Our amazing Exam Room Assistant, Meagen Yates, graduated this past weekend from Radford University with a double major in Biology and Medical Laboratory Science!

Meagen has been such a valued part of our team for the last three years, and while we will certainly miss her, we are so excited for her next chapter as she begins her new role at University of Virginia in the cytogenetics lab.

We had to share this level of cuteness today 🦖💚

Bear stopped by to see Dr. Waddell for his staple removal after surgery, and he is doing great! But the real star of the visit… this AMAZING dinosaur onesie 🐾🦕

Not only is it adorable, but it also did a fantastic job keeping Bear away from his incision while he healed—talk about style and function!

Way to go, Bear (and family!) 👏 We love seeing creative and effective ways to keep our patients safe and comfortable during recovery.

🐾 National Lost Dog Awareness Day – April 23 🐾

Every year, National Lost Dog Awareness Day shines a light on missing pets and celebrates the happy reunions that bring them back home 💙

Thanks to shelters, veterinary teams, and the power of social media, many lost dogs find their way back to their families—but prevention is key!

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your pup safe:
🐶 Keep your dog secure (leash or fenced yard)
🐶 Invest in training—especially recall commands
🐶 Always supervise, even in your own yard
🐶 Make sure your pet has ID tags and a microchip (and keep info updated!)
🐶 Spay/neuter to reduce the urge to roam
🐶 Keep updated records and photos of your pet

Even with the best precautions, accidents can happen—but these steps greatly increase the chances of a safe return home.

Caught here making a new friend (one of Dr. Magyar's patients)—no frying pans required—just channeling his inner Tangled energy while casually winning over this little chameleon (we’re pretty sure it’s basically Pascal in disguise 🦎💚).

All we’re missing now is a floating lantern moment in the treatment area… and maybe a wanted poster or two.
