One of my favorite things to teach dogs during our visits is “step.” 🐾

It’s simply putting two paws up on a surface, although it helps so much with cute photos it’s so much more than that. It helps build confidence as they learn to try it on different textures, heights, and objects.

I hadn’t seen Love in a few months, but we picked up right where we left off. She’s always so eager to learn, and today she absolutely crushed it. We practiced “step” on all kinds of different surfaces, and she was so proud of herself.

When your pets stay home while you’re on vacation, they’re not just getting a potty break and a meal. They get one-on-one attention, mental enrichment, encouragement, and someone who truly enjoys helping them learn and grow.

🚨 URGENT TEMPORARY FOSTER NEEDED ASAP 🚨

​We were just contacted by our amazing friends at Billy's Posse, Inc. with a heartbreaking and incredibly urgent situation.

​Right now, we have absolutely no open foster homes, but we cannot turn our backs on this family.

We are desperately searching for a temporary foster situation.

​A gentleman in Racine was recently evicted from his home. He is currently sleeping outside with his 7-month-old deaf Pitbull puppy.

The owner is doing everything he can, but he desperately needs a safe, temporary place for his puppy to go while he works to get his life back together.

He does NOT want to give up his baby—he just wants him to be safe.

​Together, Chained Dogs MKE and Billy’s Posse are pooling our resources to pay for a motel room for this man with his dog for a few days to get them both out of the elements immediately.

However, we need a longer-term temporary foster setup for the puppy ASAP.

​About the pup:
🐾 The Need: Temporary foster care
🐾 The Pup: 7-month-old, deaf Pitbull
🐾 Socialization: According to his owner, he gets along great with other dogs and kids!
🐾 Cats: He is a little scared of cats (he was previously attacked by one), so a cat-free home or a very slow, careful introduction would be best.
🐾 The Goal: Safe keeping until his owner gets situated

Let’s talk about the photos. 📸🐾

Every single picture you see on Time ToGo Pet Services’ Facebook and Instagram was taken while those pets were in our care and sent to their owners during their visit.

Taking photos isn’t just something we do…it’s something we genuinely take pride in.

We try to capture more than just a quick snapshot. We aim for photos you’ll smile at, save to your camera roll, and maybe even frame.

In fact, we’ve had multiple clients turn our visit photos into framed prints and photo books, and that is one of the biggest compliments we could receive.

Of course, beautiful photos probably aren’t the first thing you’re looking for in a pet sitter.

But when you’re at work or on vacation missing your best friend, there’s something incredibly comforting about opening your app and seeing them happy, relaxed, playing, exploring, or snuggled up with someone who genuinely cares about them.

And the photos are just the beginning.

After every visit, you’ll also receive a detailed visit report that includes:
🐾 Notes about your pet’s mood and behavior.
🐾 Potty updates.
🐾 Feeding, medication, and any requested care.
🐾 A GPS map of your walk.
🐾 Arrival and departure times.

So, you’ve decided to move forward with Time ToGo Pet Services… now what? 🐾

Getting started is simple!

Once you’re ready, we’ll send a link to your email to create your account in our online client portal (also available as an app).

From there, you can:
🐾 Create profiles for yourself and your pets.
🐾 Add your pet care instructions.
🐾 Schedule your visits.
🐾 Book your complimentary meet & greet, if you’d like one.

The first Meet & greet is completely free and can take place before services begin. They’re a great opportunity to show us around your home, go over your pets’ routines, and let your dog get to know us before the first visit.

That said, they’re not required! If your pet is outgoing, loves meeting new people, and you’re comfortable skipping the introduction, you’re welcome to book your first visit without one.

We want the process to be as easy and stress-free as possible.. for both you and your fur baby. ❤️

How to be a good neighbor to a reactive dog 🐾

If you are out walking and see a dog that is reacting, the kindest thing you can do is keep moving.

Please don’t stop and stare. Don’t make eye contact with the dog. Don’t wave, call out, or start a conversation with the owner while they’re trying to regain their dog’s focus.

You may notice the owner suddenly stop, speed up, cross the street, turn around, or change directions altogether. They aren’t being rude…they’re managing their dog’s environment and setting their dog up for success.

Dog training relies on consistency. When someone is actively working through a reactive moment, that isn’t the time to offer advice on what you think they should do. Trust that they know their dog and are following the training plan that’s best for them.

Remember that both people and dogs come from different backgrounds. Some dogs have experienced trauma. Some have had limited socialization. Some have medical conditions, and some are simply wired differently. Just as we don’t know a person’s story, we don’t know a dog’s story either. It’s important not to judge.

Reactive dogs deserve walks, sniffaris, fresh air, and enrichment just like every other dog.

The best thing you can do is continue walking at a steady pace, give them as much space as you reasonably can, and let them work through the moment.

One thing that surprises people who have never hired a professional pet sitter is what vacation care actually looks like.

Many people are caught off guard when they learn that most of our clients schedule 3 (sometimes 4) visits per day… and we are not at the house all day.

At first, that might not sound like enough when you think about your dog’s normal routine.

But here’s the thing…

Most dogs adjust incredibly well while their family is away.

Each visit is customized to your pet’s needs, and for those 20–40 minutes, they have our full attention. We’re not distracted by laundry, work, cooking dinner, or scrolling on our phones. That time is completely dedicated to your pets.

For example, let’s say you have two energetic, middle-aged Labs that love walks:

🐾 7:00 AM: Potty break in the yard, breakfast, and a shorter morning walk.

🐾 2:00 PM: A longer 40-minute walk, lots of sniffing and exercise, followed by a snack and fresh water.

🐾 8:00 PM: Dinner, a bedtime walk, cuddles on the couch, and getting everyone settled in for the night.

Throughout each visit, we also refresh water, clean up any accidents, administer medications if needed, bring in packages, rotate lights, and send you plenty of updates and photos.

For most dogs, this routine provides the perfect balance of exercise, mental stimulation, companionship, and rest while keeping them comfortable in the place they know best…their own home!

If you’re looking for a pet sitter who will be around for the life time of your fur baby, they probably aren’t spending weeks at a time living in clients’ homes.
