The difference between disengaged and engaged, mentally and physically.
Frankie came from a traumatic background, was shut down when it came to riding and fought every aid.
After a complete restart, showing him work isn’t something to fear and allowing him to tell me his limits, he is a completely different horse.
In the first picture he’s ridden in a halter as he had severe bit anxiety. He is completely disengaged, his back is hollow, he’s heavy on his forehand, and he was just simply not enjoying the ride.
The second picture shows how now he happily fills the bridle, is nice and round through his body, and all his power is coming from his hind end. And best of all, he’s thoroughly enjoying his ride.
When I first brought Frankie home, he was dangerous to ride and showed no desire to be around people. Now, a year later, he is being prepped for show season and is a big puppy dog.
It’s horses like him that remind me why I gravitate towards the horses other people are ready to give up on. He wasn’t mean, he was scared. He wasn’t aloof, he was nervous of people. He is now the happiest I’ve ever seen him and he’ll never end up in that position again.
Shoot me a message if you’re ready to get your horse as happy to ride as Frankie is now. ❤️
