⚠️ Rabies Alert – Pointdexter Rd & N Courthouse Rd Area 🐾

A cat in the Pointdexter Rd and N Courthouse Rd area has recently tested positive for rabies. Please use caution around unfamiliar or wild animals and make sure your pets are kept up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

If your pet begins acting strangely, unusually aggressive, confused, lethargic, or otherwise out of character, please contact us right away. Your pet’s safety—and the safety of your family and community—is important.

🐾 MEET MAX! 🐾
Looking for a dog who is smart, fun, and ready to be your best friend? Meet Max! ❤️

Max is a handsome Shepherd mix who is one seriously smart guy! 🧠 He knows his commands, LOVES to play fetch 🎾, and we believe he is house trained!

Deputy R. Guerin recently stopped by the shelter to spend some time with Max, and the two had an absolute BLAST playing fetch! 🥰 As you can see from the photos, Max was loving every minute of it!

Max is selective about his dog friends, so if you have another dog, we recommend bringing them to the shelter for a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is a good match. ❤️

This boy has so much potential and would love nothing more than to find a family who will keep his mind busy, play some fetch, and give him the love he deserves.

**** Emmaus Church Rd & Mountcastle Rd ****

Does anyone recognize these dogs? They have been wandering around Emmaus Church Rd and Mountcastle Rd since this morning. Neither of the dogs are microchipped and neither are wearing collars. The brindle pit mix is a female and the tan pit mix is a neutered male.

***Polish Town Rd.***

Do you recognize this handsome boy?

Animal Protection has taken in this sweet young male Rottweiler who was found on Polish Town Road near the dump.

He is safe and being well cared for, but we would love to find his family and get him back home.

If you believe he is yours or know who he may belong to, please contact Animal Protection directly at 804-966-9500. Proof of ownership will be required to make sure he is returned to the right person.

***Holly Fork Rd/Ware Creek Wildlife Area***

MISSING HORSE – PLEASE SHARE

On August 10, 2026, this beautiful horse, Izzy, was startled while in the area of the Ware Creek Wildlife Management Area and jumped into the creek. Izzy was last seen swimming toward the mouth of the York River and has not been seen since.

Several extensive searches have been conducted by boat and drone, but unfortunately, there have been no sightings or additional information.

At the time she disappeared, Izzy was wearing a halter with her name and her owner’s phone number on it.

Please keep an eye out, especially if you live, work, boat, or spend time around Ware Creek, the York River, or surrounding areas.

If you see Izzy or have ANY information that may help locate her, please call her owner immediately at 757-570-1829.
