Microchipping your pet, you've heard of it, right? But do you know why it is so important? Check out this awesome story that tells just how important it is to microchip your pet.

See this guy? His name is Yoda and he has been missing since October of 2024 when he escaped from his cozy house and started living the life of a drifter. That was SIX months ago! SIX! But just last week his family got him back after he appeared EIGHT MILES away at a nice ladies house and after bringing him to Animal Medical Clinic to scan his chip, they were able to identify him! In the words of Yoda: home I am!

So, is your pet microchipped??
There are so many different reasons that we can be separated from our pets; everything from them just slipping out the door or off their leash to natural disasters and emergency situations. And while microchipping does not track your pet, it is the best way to be reunited with them if any of these scenarios were to happen. Allergy season is upon us!
Just like us, our pets can struggle with allergies too and while there are many different things that pets can be allergic to, two of the most common this time of year are fleas and seasonal allergies.

It can be difficult to differentiate between seasonal allergies and flea allergic dermatitis. Here are some symptoms to watch out for:
🌿 Spring Allergies: Keep an eye out for symptoms like itching, sneezing, watery eyes, and skin irritation. Pets may also exhibit behaviors such as excessive scratching, licking, or chewing on their paws or skin. If you notice these signs, call us to schedule an appointment.
🚫 Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): Flea allergy symptoms can be similar to those of spring allergies but may also include severe itching, redness, and inflammation, particularly around the base of the tail and along the back. Flea dirt (tiny black specks) may be visible on your pet's skin or fur. Prevention is key, so ensure your pet is on a regular veterinary recommended flea prevention regimen.
