25 years ago today, our nation was inflicted with an attack that cost thousands of lives. One thing is for certain, we became one in unity as we worked together to build from the ground up. Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones, our brave first responders, and our canine heroes who helped find those who were lost. May we never forget.

In the days, weeks, and months after the 9/11 attacks, more than 300 dogs took part in the search, rescue, and recovery efforts at ground zero, according to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, which refers to the dogs as the “four-legged 9/11 heroes.”

Salty and Roselle were two guide dogs who were with their owners in the World Trade Center during the September 11 terror attacks in New York City. They each guided their owners out of the burning towers before the buildings collapsed.
