Valhalla Rescue Center An animal rescue center: that Rescues/rehabilitate/Foster and adopt out animals in need!

10/11/2026

Hey everyone.
We really don't like doing this, but Valhalla Rescue Center is struggling right now, and we'd rather be honest with you than pretend everything's fine. We have about $200 to $300 in outstanding vet bills still owed to our primary vet, our dog food supply is dangerously low, and our rescue transport vehicle is 4 months past due for an oil change.

We know times are hard for everyone right now. Everything costs so much, and honestly, that's a big part of why we're struggling more than usual too. We understand what it's like to stretch every dollar, and we wouldn't ask if it wasn't urgent. If you can spare even a few dollars, it goes straight to keeping these dogs fed, healthy, and transported safely. Every little bit genuinely helps.

We're also in real need of towels and blankets for the dogs as winter approaches. Large beach towels or regular bath towels are what we're looking for. We do need to ask that you not send blankets with stuffing or filling in them, as the dogs can tear them open and it's a safety risk.

We don't mean to be picky, but we want to keep everyone safe.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, and thank you to anyone who can help right now. It means more than you know.

VALHALLA TRAIL DAYS 🥾🐾

We’re rolling out something new and fun at Valhalla Rescue:
Valhalla Trail Days! On select Sundays, you’ll be able to join a Valhalla pack leader (usually Curtis) and one featured Valhalla dog for a guided walk or hike on a local trail. It is a way to get outside, move your body, and give one of our dogs the exercise, attention, and real‑world experience they deserve.

Each Trail Day will have its own post at least two weeks in advance with the date, time, trail, difficulty level, and the star dog of the day. Those posts will also be clearly labeled as either “Humans Only” or

“Dog Socialization (bring your pup)” so you’ll always know what kind of outing it is and when it is a good fit to include your own dog. Most events will focus on one Valhalla dog and their human hiking buddies, but we’ll sprinkle in special dog socialization hikes for the dogs who truly enjoy canine friends. Stay tuned for our first Valhalla Trail Day announcement and come hit the trail with us and a very deserving rescue dog.

Update on Khalid: Last night Khalid experienced a sudden episode where all four of his legs became completely stiff and rigid. He remained conscious and alert, but he was unable to bend his joints to walk or lie down and was rocking back and forth trying to move. He was rushed to the emergency vet at Northwood Animal Hospital, where he had returned to normal by the time we arrived. The current working theories are a severe muscle spasm, a spinal or disc issue, or traveling nerve pain; bloodwork has been sent out to rule out underlying neurological causes. Today Khalid is comfortable and acting like himself at home, but he has been started on medication and is being closely monitored. If you would like to contribute toward his emergency visit and ongoing care, you can do so here:
