Chesapeake Cats and Dogs Non-profit Animal Rescue located in Queenstown, Maryland. We depend on volunteers, fosters, & donors!

Chesapeake Cats and Dogs is a 501(c)3 no-kill rescue and lifetime haven located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in Queenstown. Our cats are housed primarily in group rooms in our Tree of Life Pet Sanctuary, while our dogs are all in foster homes. We are currently open for adult cat adoptions at our Sanctuary from 12-4pm Friday through Sunday. To adopt a dog or kitten, please apply online and we will schedule a meet and greet if your application is approved.

Sadly, Nemo was returned to CCAD after being in his family home for just one year, when his owner passed away suddenly. He is a sweet teddy bear who likes to lounge in the sun and be held and petted and talked to. He does okay with other cats as long as they give him his space and don’t try to eat his food (understandable!).

Nemo is a diabetic cat who requires twice daily insulin injections. He is a very good boy for his needles as well as glucose testing when it is needed. Nemo loves to eat and is very affectionate! He is an otherwise healthy senior boy, born in 2014.

Nemo has adjusted well to being back at the sanctuary but he does miss having a home and family of his own. Don't let his diabetes scare you away from adopting him! Our vet tech will go over all of his needs with you and teach you how to care for him. We will be here every step of the way for the person who is willing to open their heart and home for this loving senior kitty.

YARD SALE THIS SATURDAY!! Stop by our yard sale on October 17th! We will have a fun mix of things for sale, including Christmas decor, pet items, tools, plants, and baked goods.

The event will be held outside the sanctuary from 8am to 12pm. Address is 326 Wye Mills Rd in Queenstown MD.

We need VOLUNTEERS! We also need folks to DONATE baked goods and items to sell. (Please no junk, we will have to deal with anything that doesn’t sell - if you wouldn’t buy it, don’t donate it!)

We need weekend cleaning volunteers! Spend 2-3 hours keeping our sanctuary in tip-top shape. Scoop some litter, do some laundry, that kind of thing!

We are looking for someone to cover 1-2 Sunday mornings or 1-2 Saturday evenings every month. Teens are welcome as long as there’s a responsible adult with them! (And we can sign off on volunteer hours for students!)

Lovely Lily is on our waitlist, but we would love to place her directly into a home instead of bringing her to the sanctuary!

Lily, aka “lil bean” or “lil baby,” is 6 years old, but she is truly a little baby. She’s scared of pretty much anything and everything. Loud noises? She’s gone fast as lightning. Stranger in the house? She’s out of sight for the foreseeable future. She takes a while to trust you, but once she knows she can trust you, she’s your baby forever!

Lily also only likes being touched on her terms or else she’ll run away. But if you’re on the couch or laying down in bed, she’ll come find you and lay on your chest. It’s her favorite spot to be! She’s good around other cats as long as there is a proper introduction, but she’s afraid of dogs. Can you give this scaredy-cat a home where she can feel safe FURever?

Beautiful Bella is on our waitlist, but we would love to place her directly into a home instead of bringing her to the sanctuary!

Bella, aka “Bella Donna,” is a lovely 9-year-old beauty. She was very loved by her former owners, who got her as a kitten after she was found on a farm. She is very chatty and opinionated when it comes to her food, but we found that a strict feeding schedule is the most beneficial for her. She’s quite the hefty lady, but that just means more to love!

Bella loves cuddling and although she’s been living with another cat, she would probably be happiest as an only cat. But she loves dogs! She used to strut around the house meowing for attention from her owners, and if they weren’t there, then she’d meow for the dog’s attention. She’s a silly girl! A very soft, sweet lady looking for her FURever family. Could it be yours?

Our 20TH ANNIVERSARY is coming up! To celebrate, the adoption donation for all adult cats will be just $20, starting this Saturday up until our anniversary!

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now is the purrfect time. Get those applications submitted!
