DONATION REQUEST: HELP US STOCK OUR PLUSH PET ADOPTION CENTER!

We’re looking for new or very lightly used stuffed animals to help us create a special activity for kids at this year’s Fur Festival!

We know not every child is able to have a real furry friend of their own. So, at the Fur Festival, kids will have the opportunity to “adopt” a plush pet of their very own! They can pick out their new stuffed companion and take home a little reminder of their fun day at the festival.

If you have stuffed animals at home that are new or very lightly used, clean, and in good condition, we would love to give them a second chance at making a child smile!

Have plushies to donate? Bring them to Queen Anne’s County Animal Services or contact us for more information.

Every stuffed animal donated will help us make the Fur Festival a little more special for our youngest animal lovers!

Help us give kids a pet they can take home—even if Mom and Dad say the real ones have to stay at the shelter!

Do you LOVE to organize? We have the volunteer job for you!

Not every volunteer wants to spend their day walking dogs or cuddling cats—and that’s okay! We know there are some wonderfully organized people out there who genuinely have the time of their lives sorting, labeling, arranging, and making things look just right.

As an Organization Volunteer, you can help us keep some of our behind-the-scenes areas running smoothly, including:

Organizing and sorting donations in our donation area
Keeping our Pet Pantry organized and easy to navigate
Sorting and organizing animal files and paperwork
Helping us make sure supplies and materials are where they need to be

It might not sound exciting to everyone, but for the right person, a messy donation area is basically a blank canvas.

If sorting and organizing is your happy place, we would LOVE to have you volunteer with us!

SHELTER VETERINARIAN – Animal Services

Salary Range, $100,358.00-$197,985.00, FULL-TIME
JOB SUMMARY

The Shelter Veterinarian shall be responsible for the Veterinary functions at Queen Anne’s County Animal Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform spays, neuters, dental, and other soft tissue surgical procedures.

Perform Subjective Objective Assessment Plan exams on new animals.

Perform weekly rounds on animals in care to assess for infectious diseases and/or injuries.

Consult with behavior staff on mental health concerns and possible pharmaceutical intervention needs.

Assist the Medical Care Technician for reorder of medications and surgical supplies.

Perform examinations and create treatment plans for foster animals.

Ability to perform in-house diagnostics such as bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology.

Host Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic in collaboration with the Chief of Animal Services

Periodically review Standard Operating Procedures for intake, illness, and sanitation protocols with the Chief of Animal Services

Periodically review and adjust shelter medical protocols based on industry standards with the Chief of Animal Services.

Willingness to provide guidance to the medical team when off location.

Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.

Our Pet Pantry is COMPLETELY OUT of dry cat food, and we are also running very low on wet dog food.

Our Pet Pantry helps local community members who need a little extra support keeping their pets fed and cared for. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference — not only to the shelter, but to the families and pets in our community who rely on this resource.

Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day from Duck!

No, not the rubber duck… the cat named Duck! We promise, he is 100% cat and only slightly questionable when it comes to his name.

Duck would like to take this very important day to remind everyone that ginger cats are pretty fantastic. They’re orange, they’re adorable, they’re full of personality, and they somehow always manage to convince us that whatever trouble they’re getting into was definitely not their fault.

So today, we’re celebrating Duck and all of his fellow orange-haired friends! Whether they’re sweet, silly, cuddly, mischievous, or just here for the snacks, ginger cats deserve some extra love today.

Our adoption fees are STILL WAIVED as part of Maryland 3000 & Clear the Shelters!

We still have SO many incredible cats and dogs waiting patiently for their forever families. Just look at all these wonderful faces — and this is only SOME of the amazing animals we have available for adoption!
