Dogs make me face my own patterns.
Dogs make me show up even on the days I want to disappear. ✨

Every time I teach a dog structure, patience, or boundaries…
I’m reminding myself of the same things. 🧘🏽‍♀️⚡️
Every time I bring a dog out of chaos, I’m bringing myself out of it too.
Every time a dog trusts me, I remember I’m worthy of being trusted. 🤎

Caring for dogs isn’t just my job — it’s my mirror.
They reflect my strength, my softness, my discipline, and my growth.
They hold space for the parts of me I never talk about. 💭
And they love me through all the versions of me I’ve had to outgrow. 🕊️

Ever feel like your dog is a training superstar inside but completely tunes you out the moment you step outside? 😩 You say “sit,” and they just stare at a squirrel. You call their name, and they’re suddenly deaf to your voice. Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth: Your dog isn’t ignoring you on purpose—they’re just overwhelmed by the world around them. 🌎

🔹 Distractions Are Everywhere – Indoors, it’s just you and them. Outside? It’s a whole new world of smells, sounds, dogs, squirrels, and excitement.
🔹 Lack of Proofing – Just because your dog knows a command in the living room doesn’t mean they understand it applies in a noisy park. Training must be reinforced in different environments to stick.
🔹 Competing Rewards – At home, YOU are the most exciting thing. Outside? A bird, a smell, or another dog can be way more rewarding than a treat or praise.
🔹 Inconsistency in Training – If you only practice at home, your dog has no reason to believe your commands apply in the real world.

So how do you fix it?

✅ Train in low-distraction areas first, then gradually increase the difficulty.
✅ Reward engagement outside—pay attention to when your dog chooses to focus on you!
✅ Use a leash for better control while practicing recall and obedience.
✅ Stay patient & consistent—outdoor training takes time!

Your dog isn’t stubborn; they just need more practice in different places to truly understand what you’re asking. Training isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.

It’s easy to see our dogs as family, but when we start treating them like humans—assuming they think, feel, and function the way we do—it can create more harm than good.

Humanizing a dog means treating them as if they have human emotions, logic, and needs. While we love our dogs deeply, they need structure, leadership, and care tailored to who they are—not who we want them to be.

Loving your dog means respecting them as a dog—not a child, not a little human, but an animal with natural instincts that need to be honored. Give them structure, clear leadership, and the right kind of affection, and you’ll have a confident, balanced, and happy dog. 💛🐕
