Happy Tails Dachshund Rescue is a non-profit organization consisting of dedicated rescue volunteers who love the Dachshund dog breed. Our mission is to save as many Doxies from euthanasia, abuse, or abandonment and to adopt them into as many loving, forever homes as we can!

Winnie Wednesday Weigh in!!! 💗
Look at our girl go!
Winnie started her journey at 46.45 lbs. Today, she’s down to 44.2 lbs — that’s 2.25 lbs lost! 🎉
Every healthy step forward is worth celebrating, and we’re so proud of the progress Winnie is making. From daily walks to portion control and lots of encouragement from her foster family, Winnie is working hard toward a healthier, happier life.
These transformations don’t happen overnight, but Winnie is proving that small steps can lead to big accomplishments. 💕

adoption spotlight cam : huey 🤎📸

huey is a sweet 9–10 year old, 12 lb dachshund with the most loving little personality. he’s friendly, chill, laid back, and happiest when he’s close to his person, lap dog, shadow dog, velcro dog… he’ll happily answer to all of the above.
he is leash trained, good with other dogs and older kids, and perfectly content with short walks, slow days, and a warm couch. toys aren’t really his thing , he would much rather be near you.
huey is still working on house training, but he’s making great progress. due to poor nutrition in his past, he is missing a little fur in some areas, but he is already on fish oil and his coat is coming in beautifully.
one important thing to know about huey is that he does best with slow, calm approaches. he doesn’t love being caught off guard, so giving him a little heads up before touching him helps him feel safe and understood.
per his foster family: “we love our huey!! it’s his big old paws, cowlick on his nose, and the adorable way he bounces when he walks that’s our favorite. we’ll miss having him right by our side or under our chair. huey will make a loyal companion to his person.” ❤️
huey’s ideal home is calm, patient, and full of love , without young kids or too much chaos. he has already come so far, and now he’s ready for his forever person.

meet jasper 🤎
part of our tonopah 9, jasper is a 13-year-old black and tan dapple dachshund rescued from the tonopah hoarding situation.
jasper came to us after enduring severe medical neglect, including rotten teeth, two oronasal fistulas, skin tags, and a cancerous retained testicle. despite everything he had been through, his foster described him as sweet, trusting, and just a little unsure at first.
since entering rescue, jasper has already undergone surgery, including a dental, fistula repair, and neuter. thankfully, his cancer was fully removed with clean margins, and he tested negative for heartworm, valley fever, and parasites.
he will undergo one more surgery on june 8th to repair his second oronasal fistula, afterwards…jasper will continue healing with his foster family, where he will remain long term.
in foster care, jasper is learning what safety and comfort feel like. he loves people, cozy blankets, toys, snacks shared with his person, and makes the sweetest little groans instead of barking.
the HTDR team is thankful to everyone supporting jasper’s healing journey 🤎

ADOPTION CAM ALERT 📸🚨: Parker 🤎
Part of our tonopah 9, Parker is a beautiful 7 year old chocolate, tan long-haired dachshund with so much love to give.
This sweet boy loves being close to his person and is happiest right by your side soaking up attention. At night, he sleeps on top of the covers at your feet, making sure he’s always nearby.
Parker rides well in the car, especially with a car seat or leash strap, since kennels are not his favorite. He gets extra excited for mealtime and will even do a little happy dance on his back legs while waiting for food. 🤎
He coexists well with other dogs but would also be perfectly happy as your one and only pup. Parker could use a little leash work, but his loving personality more than makes up for it.
Parker is ready to find the forever home he deserves and make someone very, very happy. ✨

Honey & bear just stole the spotlight 💙💛
someone please give these two their forever home already 😭✨
Honey & Bear are still patiently waiting for their forever home 🤍 These two sweet pups are full of personality, love, and happiness. They adore their people and bring so much joy wherever they go.
Like many dachshunds, though, these little dogs can have some very big feelings especially when out on walks around unfamiliar dogs. We’ve recently learned that leash walking can be a challenge for them, and they’ll need a patient adopter willing to continue helping them work through those behaviors so walks can become more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Because of this, we believe Honey & Bear would thrive best as the only dogs in the home with someone experienced with dachshunds and their quirky, strong willed personalities 🐾
These two deserve a family who will love them for exactly who they are the good, the goofy, and the sassy. Could that person be you? 🤍

Happy Tails Dachshund Rescue would like to give a HUGE thank you to Arizona Pet Plates for awarding us a $2,500 grant to help cover spay and neuter surgeries for dogs in our rescue! 🤍🐾
