Chef 🍳

Before the ring. Before the ribbons.

There’s something to love about photographs like this, the ones that capture the ordinary moments before the extraordinary ones. The brushing, the waiting, the little adjustments, the hands of people who care for him, and that familiar look in his eyes that says, “Okay…I’m ready!”

Showing dogs is so much more than the ribbons we bring home. It’s the years of learning, conditioning, grooming, traveling, training, trusting, and growing together. It’s the quiet moments that no one sees that eventually become the memories everyone celebrates.

The ribbons are wonderful. The memories are everything and finding your people makes all the difference.

This dog has brought many people into my life and some of those have turned into some wonderful friendships that I know I will hold close to my heart forever.

Dogs, how wonderful they are. While no dog is perfect, he sure is perfect for me. Sweet Chef, you are so special. 🫶🏼

Pickle 🥒
Or, as we call her… Perfect Pickle Baby!

Pickle has been the easiest puppy. She settles on her own, is wicked smart (which comes as no surprise given who her mother is 😉), and has never met a stranger, human or dog!

She wiggles with her entire body, is absolutely full of life, and wakes up every day ready to take on the world with the biggest, happiest personality. She is confident, social, joyful, and just truly… a sweet dill-light. 🥒✨

She has the kind of personality that makes you smile just by watching her be herself. She is certainly living up to her name because Pickle baby is, in every sense, dilliciously sweet and most importantly, turning out to be the best friend to my oldest daughter. 🥒💚✨

What. A. WEEKEND. ✨

This year is one I will remember, and we couldn’t be more proud of this crew! 💕

🍳Chef had an incredible weekend, going Best of Breed Friday & Saturday of OKC, then Select Dog at the PSNEA Specialty. He topped it off with a Hound Group 1 on Saturday! We skipped the group on Friday so we could participate in the specialty, and it was absolutely worth it!

🍧 Gelato “Gigi” made her debut at her first big show weekend and came home with TWO MAJORS! She went Winners & Best of Winners Friday, then Winners again on Sunday! A huge thank you to my friends for their excellent presentation of Gigi. 💕

We are incredibly grateful to judges Michael Faulkner, Justin Dannenbring, Linda Whisenhunt, Margaret Jones, and Dana Cline for recognizing Chef and his offspring throughout the weekend. It means so much to have our dogs and the next generation appreciated in the ring.

And, as always, thank you to our wonderful Elkhound community for cheering us on, celebrating our wins, and making these weekends so special. It’s always so good to see everyone!

Most importantly, thank you to my friends, my guides and every breeder behind my dogs. The people who help, support, encourage, laugh with me, and love these dogs right alongside me. I truly couldn’t do this without you.

What a fun and memorable weekend for our Desserts at the Western Washington Hound Association show!

Pickle 🥒 earned 3 points toward her AKC Championship, going WB & BOS on Saturday and WB again on Sunday! Her biggest highlights were rolling in the grass, getting lots of pets, and playing with all the Elkhounds! 😂

Volk 🍞 picked up his first points going WD & BOW!! Congratulations to his owner for putting his first points on him and on her first show dog!!

Gem 💎 and Soren 🍰 both went RWB and RWD on Saturday and Sunday! 🥰

Thank you to the judges for the recognition and kind words. These puppies have been such a joy to watch grow up and I am very excited to see where they go!

Seven months already?! 🍰✨

The Desserts are officially 7 months old! What a fun stage this is! They’re growing like weeds, testing boundaries, blowing puppy coat, and learning, learning, learning! It’s an age full of curiosity, sometimes caution, and plenty of “let’s see what happens if I do this…” moments. 😅

While this stage can certainly keep us on our toes, it’s also rewarding. Every training session, new experience, and little success is helping shape these puppies into the dogs they’ll become. Consistency, patience, and a sense of humor go a long way! 😁

Today, Pickle and Volk got to enjoy a fun play date together, followed by some training time. Watching littermates reconnect is always such joy. 🩵

What a weekend for Ingreja! ✨

This past weekend at PVDF, Pickle made her debut in the bred by exhibitor classes at 6 months old! 🥒

- Friday under Stacey Davis, Pickle earned her first major by going Winners, Best of Winners, and Best of Breed over specials! She got to take a spin around the Group ring and loved every second of it.

- Saturday under Marilyn Van Vleit, she followed it up by going Winners, Best of Winners, and Best of Opposite over a special for another 2 points.

That brings Pickle to 5 points toward her championship after her very first weekend in the classes! We couldn’t be prouder of our baby dill.

Chef had a wonderful weekend as well! 🍳
- Friday: Best of Opposite to his daughter.
- Saturday: Best of Breed, adding more points toward his Grand Champion Bronze!

So proud of these two and excited for what’s ahead! 🐾 🫎

Puppy brag!!!

Volk, Gem and Pickle recently attended their first dog show where they got to learn the ropes of being show dogs! The puppies received a lot of compliments, they loved meeting new people, some new dogs (that we knew) and took to being in a new busy atmosphere with ease. 🐾

On Saturday and Sunday..
Volk 🍞 was Best of Breed puppy and then went on to Hound Group firsts both days with his owner, Kaitlyn! ☺️

Gem 💎 was Best of Opposite Saturday with her owner, Stacie!

Pickle 🥒 was Best of Opposite on Sunday!

I can’t wait to see what more all of these desserts accomplish with their people. 💜

We had a wonderful weekend up North at the NW Washington Cluster! Chef was entered 2 out of the 4 days and had a nice weekend in the ring.

On Friday, Chef was awarded Select Dog under David Kirkland.
On Sunday, Chef earned Best of Breed under Jan Schreiber!

Thank you to the judges for recognizing Chef this weekend. (The moving photo is from Group!)

Three of the Desserts also attended their very first 4–6 Month Beginner Puppy show, and I could not be more proud of both these puppies and their owners. They stepped into the ring for the first time with confidence and ease 😊

All of the puppies were social, confident, and excited to try something new alongside their people. The bonds already forming between these puppies and their humans are so special, and I am excited to continue watching them grow together.

Volk was our BIG winner of the weekend, but I’ll let his owner share their exciting news! 💜🥰

Overall, a very successful weekend,especially for only our second show of the year.
