Ok, so since my post is not getting approved on the social media platforms I was so disrespected on, and slandered on, bashed on, I will post it here, and on my business page.
I did not steal this dog. I did not withhold this dog from her owners. I did not hurt this dog, or mis treat this dog. This is a long post, but it needed to be wrote. I simply picked this dog up after she was found so she didnt have to die in the below freezing temps.
I work as a mobile dog groomer, which I have been doing for nearly 6 years. It isn't the most glamorous job in the world, but it is my passion and livelihood. I love animals, but dogs especially. I've always had a soft spot for them, and I've spent years going out of my way to rescue them using my own resorces and money.
I communicated with the individuals who had this dog in their care. They were unable to keep the dog themselves due to having other animals in the home. So I turned off the Seahawks game, jumped in my truck, and drove straight over to pick her up. Picked her up with every intention of hoping to reunite her with her family again.
Her condition wasnt the best. Very much matted, overgrown nails, but overall she seemed healthy. I brought her home, fed her, bathed her, groomed her lightly, and provided her safety and comfort with a warm cozy place to sleep for the night.
A woman (I am not naming names, although I absolutely should because of the backlash I personally have received. But i will not sink to that level. God knows the truth and thats all that matters) reached out st 9:40 that night saying she knows who the dog belongs to. I asked her to get me some pictures and any distinct markings the dog may have. She did give me the woman's (supposed owner) number, but at this time I was literally in the middle of a personal call and it was getting late. We exchanged a few messages during this time and she answered some questions. I asked her to have the supposed owner contact me. She did at 10:47 looking back. As I was in the middle of my own personal call I responded at 11:59 letting her know my apologies its late but ill reach out in the morning. I also asked her for a distinct mark. She mentioned a birthmark on the dogs belly. The birthmark she is claiming the dog has is non existent. She does not have one. At this time its late, im exhausted, the dog is sleeping and no longer stressed, and this is something we can tackle in the morning. At 8:25 am I texted the supposed owner letting her know ill be at the Orting Vet at 9:15 to her chipped scanned if she wants to meet me there for pick up. She questioned it and said she gave me a distinct marking and that should be enough. Well the mark she gave me dosnt exist. So, yes im getting her scanned for a chip. If she is chipped like the supposed owner claims and she has the papers then easy easy, you can have the dog. But she then went on tk say she is at work and made it very clear multiple times that she is an Executive in Seattle. Like that was supposed to stand out to me for some reason. She also made the excuse that Orting is far away from Buckley. And then also said she will have someone else meet me. This all seemed odd to me. She kept bringing up the birthmark, but there is no birthmark. She then sent me my address, letting me know she knows where I live. I asked her how she got my address and she didnt answer. I then told her the conversation is over and once I get her scanned for a chip and she comes back as the owner I will let her know and we can meet at the gas station in South Prairie in the evening time after I finish work.
So I took her in to be scanned for a chip. They checked 3 different times on her entire body and no chip was found.
To complicate matters, I received a phone call from a friend of the individual right after i was at the vets office. They left me a disturbing voicemail. I did save it.
"Amber, if you do not return the dog to (supposed owner) consider this your first warning."
Now that, along with them sharing that they have my home address I took as a threat. So I went to the police station immediately and filed a report. I was told to not engage with them or respond to social media platforms. And that what I did. I listened. As hard and emotionally traumatizing it has been on me I listened to the police and did not respond. Until now! Reading the cruel comments about myself and my business, my livelihood, questioning my character, getting the title 'Dog Thief' from a community of people who had one side (a lie) of a story made me nauseous and very upset. I could not even stick up for myself. Me being told Im a peice of s***, im a Dog thief, disgusting human, F*** her business, boycott this business, Im never using her again, she is a Scam, she is Sketchy AF, who the F*** does this, I mean the comments go on and on. The beating went on and I didnt respond knowing the truth and going on to figure out this mess. Feeling defeated I left it at that.
What began as the typical rescue and reunite, I've done numerous of times over the years, has devolved into personal threats, disparaging my business, my passion, and now a dilemma.
The individual asserting claim says definitively the dog was chipped. The veternarian found no such chip. I went out of my way to help a dog found in the freezing cold. I didn't ask to be threatened or have lies spread about my character, and especially not my business, and these comments break my heart. And now im receiving negative business reviews from persons who have never even used my business services, or even thought to reach out for an explanation. Not that I owe anyone an explanation. I pray for everyone who decided to bash my name, and business without knowing me or the story, take a moment to reflect on your words. For myself, its in God's hands. Im at peace with that.
I will be removing myself from this situation, for my own safety and sanity, and the dog is now in custody with the Tacoma Humane Society. They also could not find a chip or so called birthmark. If this is infact that woman's dog she went about this completely un professional and fully disrespected me and my livlihood. If my dog got lost I could only pray someone like myself found them and took the right way to unite them back with family. Threats were made before the dog was even scanned for a chip. She has now left voicemail and texts trying to cover her butt and be all kind. I still have zero contact with her and I will keep it that way. But if she is well known in the public like she stated and works for the secretary then she needs to take a good long look in mirror and adjust how she handles things.
I'm saddened this situation makes me second guess rescuing in the future, but I remain hopeful not everyone is as hateful or hurtful towards those simply trying to do the right thing. Everyone who bashed my name and my business, for those of you who left reviews without knowing the full story or ever even meeting me or using my services, I pray for you and I hope you reflect on the disgusting behavior you fed into.
