A Moment to Pause, A Promise to Return
I’m taking a short step back from my work after experiencing a recent loss in my family.
This time is being spent quietly—resting, processing, and finding my footing again so I can return with the same care and presence I give to every dog and family I work with.

🐾 Meet Beanz 🐾
Beanz is a 5-month-old Dachshund with a very strong belief that she is, in fact… a rabbit 🐇💨 I’m pretty sure she missed the memo about being a dog somewhere along the way—because the bunny hops are real and honestly impressive. Olympic-level, if we’re being honest.
She brings so much joy and personality into every session—it’s impossible not to smile when she’s around. Equal parts adorable chaos and determined little genius.
And can we talk about her owner for a second? 🙌 They are doing an amazing job showing up for her, staying consistent, and putting in the work. It really shows. Beanz is currently enrolled in the Basic Manners Course and is absolutely thriving—learning, growing, and hopping her way into becoming a well-mannered (but still delightfully quirky) little dog.
I’m so proud of both of them… and also slightly convinced Beanz might start requesting carrots as payment soon 🥕😄

🐾Meet the newest member of this crew!🐾

You might remember that I’ve had the pleasure of pet sitting Zora the Poodle mix and Scar the cat… but the household has recently expanded its management team. Please welcome the newest employee: Smoke, a 10-month-old kitten with big energy and absolutely zero chill.

Zora — a 13-year-old Poodle — still runs the greeting committee. She specializes in bouncy welcomes, enthusiastic tail wags, and professional-level snuggles. If there were an Olympic sport for happy greetings, she’d already have a gold medal.

Scar maintains his position as Head of Property Security and Mouse Patrol. He has the calm confidence of an old cowboy sheriff who’s seen it all. Despite his dignified reputation, he’s surprisingly playful and has welcomed young Smoke into the household with the tolerant patience of a seasoned mentor.

Then there’s Smoke… who apparently missed the memo that he’s a cat.
This kitten is a retriever in disguise. He brings me toys, drops them at my feet, and waits expectantly for the throw like a tiny furry Labrador. We repeat this game approximately one thousand times until he decides it’s cuddle o’clock, at which point he collapses into purring mode and demands pets like a champion snuggler.

So the current household lineup looks something like this:

• Smoke — Toy Retrieval Specialist & Professional Purr Machine

🐈 Meet This Cat Gang 🐈

Behav-N-Dogs Pet Services has the pleasure of caring for this hilarious little crew of five cats with luxury in-home drop-in pet sitting. While their humans are away, they receive meals, treats, clean litter boxes, and of course… plenty of attention from their temporary staff member (that would be me). 😆
Every visit feels a bit like reporting for duty to a tiny feline management team.

🐾 Bubba – The Orange Boss
Bubba believes personal space is optional. If there are treats, pets, or an interesting bag, Bubba will simply push his way into the middle of it like he owns the place… which honestly, he probably does.

🐾 Lilly – The Shoulder Cat
Lilly is a nine-month-old gray kitten whose life mission is to climb directly onto my shoulder for snuggles. Apparently she missed the memo that she is a cat and not a parrot.

🐾 Ginger – The Distinguished Snack Inspector
At 14 years old, Ginger is the wise senior lady of the group. She enjoys the finer things in life… like snacks, more snacks, and quiet supervision of everyone else.

🐾 Shadow – The Professional Ninja
Shadow truly lives up to his name. He appears briefly… then vanishes back into the shadows like a tiny stealth operative. I suspect he is secretly monitoring everything.

🐾 Tony – The Snack Activated Cat
Tony spends most of his time sleeping and conserving energy. However, the moment the good snacks appear, he suddenly materializes like magic. Quiet, reserved… but always ready for treats.

It’s always a delight caring for this quirky cat crew while their humans are away. Every visit is full of personalities, purrs, and the occasional reminder that the cats clearly run the show.

🐾 Meet Elgy 🐾

Elgy is a stunning 3-year-old, 22-lb mixed breed who looks like the perfect blend of Chihuahua and Beagle — and she completely stole my heart from the moment I met her. 💛
Behind those sweet eyes is a sensitive girl who sometimes finds the world a little overwhelming. New experiences can feel big and uncertain for her, so my work with Elgy focuses on helping her feel safe, build confidence, discover relaxation, and learn life skills in a way that supports her emotionally — never through pressure or fear.

And wow… did she impress me.

During her very first session, Elgy showed not only bravery, but remarkable intelligence. Even though she started off unsure, she quickly began problem-solving and successfully worked through multiple learning games designed to help her understand how training works.

She figured out how to follow food movement, engage with learning, make thoughtful choices, and re-orient back for reinforcement — all skills that can feel incredibly challenging for a nervous dog experiencing something new.
What stood out most was how hard she tried. You could see her thinking, processing, and choosing to stay engaged even when she felt unsure. That ability to learn while navigating big emotions is a powerful sign of resilience and intelligence.

For sensitive dogs, these early wins are enormous. Every moment Elgy chose curiosity over worry helped build new neural pathways connected to safety, optimism, and confidence. Watching her begin to lean into learning instead of retreating from it was truly beautiful. I could almost see her realizing, “I can do this.”
Helping dogs like Elgy discover just how capable they are is why this work means so much to me. It is an absolute joy and honor to welcome Elgy and her wonderful family into the Behav-N-Dogs family.

This is only the beginning of her journey — and I cannot wait to watch this incredibly smart, sensitive girl blossom into a more confident version of herself. 🌸🐾

🎊 Congratulations Vinnie! 🎊
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Vinnie, a 10-year-old hound mix, has officially graduated from his personalized Behavior Modification Course! 🐾✨
His goal?
To overcome his fear of riding in a bike trailer so he can enjoy upcoming adventures on the trails with his owner.
And he did it.

Through patient, structured confidence-building, play-based counterconditioning, and gradual exposure, Vinnie worked through his fear step-by-step. He showed true bravery leaning into his stretch zone and building new positive associations with the bike trailer.

Now, he’s on his path to successful bike rides and outdoor adventures — sometimes running beside the bike, sometimes relaxing confidently inside the trailer.

This is what personalized behavior modification looks like:
• Meeting the dog where they are
• Respecting emotional thresholds
• Rewiring fear through positive reinforcement
• Building resilience through play and optimism

🐾 Meet Jingle 🐾

Jingle is a 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy who has officially joined the Behav-N-Dogs family!

She is currently enrolled in our Basic Manners Course, where her main goals include:
✨ Keeping four paws on the floor (no jumping up)
✨ Building beautiful leash manners

This course includes:
• Sit & Down Stays
• Coming When Called
• Loose Leash Walking
• Ignoring Distractions — learning to pass dogs and people calmly unless released to greet
• Sitting politely for petting
• Yard & House Boundaries — no door or gate bolting, exiting only on cue
• Positive socialization with people and other dogs

Owner-requested focus:
Jingle’s family is also planning ahead! After Basic Manners, they are interested in moving into Advanced Skills and eventually Service Dog Task Training as she grows and develops.

Jingle did beautifully in her very first session and is already off to a wonderful start. She is eager, thoughtful, and ready to learn — we’re so excited to watch her confidence and skills grow!

🐾 Meet Pepper! 🐾

Pepper is a 10-week-old Mini Aussie Mountain Doodle and she has officially joined the Behav-N-Dogs family!
She is full of curiosity, playfulness, and eagerness to learn — and I’m so excited to be part of her journey.

Over the next 12 weeks, Pepper will be working through the Behav-N-Dogs Puppy Course, designed to build confidence, prevent problem behaviors, and create a strong lifelong bond between puppy and family.

✨ What Pepper Will Be Learning:
● Appropriate Chewing — learning what to chew and what to leave alone
● Confidence Building Games — bringing out bravery and resilience early
● Early Problem Prevention — addressing behaviors before they become habits
● Potty Training — creating reliable, consistent routines
