The sun came out just in time to spotlight baby girl’s first *successful* attempt at stretching forward at the trot. She was green broke with a lot more contact than I find appropriate, so this soft rein stretch (that only lasts a stride or two for now) has been four months in the making. Ponies are notoriously hard to teach forward suppleness to because of their conformation, but it doesn’t make it any less important. The second wrung of the dressage scale is SUPPLENESS and I find it to be the most commonly incomplete stage when I meet new students. Lateral suppleness is necessary to get most jobs done, but forward suppleness is necessary for a healthy topline. Therefore necessary for every rider in every discipline to master.

This was officially one of my proudest moments as a trainer and he and his mom deserve all the recognition. Bailey had been out of the show ring for around 5 years following several big accidents and injuries and had been labeled a questionable-at-best animal. 2 years of voracious vetting, farrier work, and biomechanically correct training and this boy is relaxed in the work and on the ground. He thrilled everyone this weekend when we earned ALL 7s and 8s and one 6.5.
His mom has had an equal transformation in her management of him and they are finally hacking about happy and learning tests in their home court. Fingers crossed everything stays according to plan and they get to show together before the end of the year. BUT as Bailey always reminds us: great things require great patience. 🖤🐉

K so we’re about 3 months into this whole thing and two things are clear: first, she’s obsessed with flying through the air. Second, I think we might finally be best friends. 💕🍉🎀

And we’re officially striding over small fences! So I guess you could say it’s getting pretty serious. She will be attending her first schooling show in about 5 weeks where I’m sure we will provide entertainment for everyone. 🎭💥☀️

All of the chaos was cleared up finally when I reached out to the sheriff department directly and they told me to start packing up. The whole herd and every other freakin animal I parent are off the farm for the time being!! I owe it all to my amazing community of students and beyond. Thank you especially to the Coble family who are always willing to house my herd in an emergency! Also to Ramy Moudy Jisha, Joey Ogburn, , and Shelley Rossi for helping me make a mad dash out of the smoke this afternoon!! I absolutely could not have made this happen (also so FAST) without each of you!! To everyone who has reached out this week, it has meant the world to me! For now, the horses are settled and Coyote and I are couch surfing in Penrose! Lessons on *your* farms will remain as scheduled for the rest of the week. Obviously at-home lessons and training are suspended until hell itself is done wreaking havoc on our beautiful mountains and prairies!!

I forgot to post these from the last show! Josie Trainer and Drifter are nearly bored 🥱 over the tiny fences now and Rohan made really mature decisions most of the day. ❤️

Little miss wiggles had her first work under saddle since coming home! AND her first time being asked to go over poles between standards. In her five months of c**t starting before coming to me she was ridden in a very purposeful frame. So all of our riding time right now is focused on stretchy contact and following straightness from the seat first and reins second. She is so eager to try and easy to communicate with which is lucky since she’s the wriggliest little fishy in the jump lines! She works on the ground doing laterals every evening after dinner and is proving to be a very easy young lady! ❤️🌈🐠

I did a career thing for just my benefit for the first time in my whole life.
The new baby Irish girl is home. 24 hours on the road there and back and this freshly four-year-old is already healing my sweet Kea mare’s broken heart.
We’ve suffered an absolutely unfair amount of loss on the farm recently and Kea has been feeling it the most. (Ok, it hasn’t been that much, but I’m not used to losing a single horse ever, so.)
Irish White Moon—
Connemara X Thoroughbred X Irish Draught
Currently standing at 14.3
5/22/2022 mare, breeder has been her one owner. Already lightly started on the flat w/t/c.
This girl is already so loved and cherished. I’m so privileged to help her become everything she wants to be. ❤️
