Here is a check you can do in five seconds: press your thumbnail into your dog's chew. If it does not dent, it is hard enough to crack a tooth. Rope toys, retractable leashes, and prong collars have their own quiet risks. Our latest post walks through what stays in the gear bin and what should go.

Sorting the toy bin, the treat jar, and the leash hook into keep and toss piles comes down to a few physical checks, not price tags or packaging claims. The quickest check is on chews: if you cannot dent it with a thumbnail, it is hard enough to fracture a tooth, and a fractured tooth

Senior pets age much faster than we do, which means regular checkups become even more important.

A senior wellness exam may include:
✔️ A thorough nose-to-tail physical exam
✔️ Weight and body condition evaluation
✔️ Arthritis and mobility assessment
✔️ Dental health check
✔️ Bloodwork to monitor internal organ health
✔️ Discussion of behavior or appetite changes

Many diseases, including kidney disease, diabetes, and thyroid conditions, can be caught before your pet shows obvious symptoms.

Our goal is simple: help your best friend enjoy more healthy, happy years.

Have questions about when your pet becomes a senior? Give us a call!

Did you know that a consistent daily routine can help reduce stress and improve your pet's overall well-being?

Keeping regular times for:
🍽️ Meals
🚶 Walks and exercise
🎾 Playtime
😴 Rest
💙 Quality time with family

helps your pet feel secure and know what to expect each day.

Routine is especially important for puppies, kittens, senior pets, and animals that experience anxiety. Even small changes to a daily schedule can sometimes affect their behavior.

A predictable routine helps create happier, healthier pets and a calmer household for everyone.

Just like people, some pets experience stress and anxiety. Loud noises, thunderstorms, fireworks, travel, vet visits, and changes at home can all be overwhelming.

There are several options that may help your pet feel more comfortable, including:
🐶 Calming chews
🐱 Pheromone diffusers or sprays
🦴 Calming collars
💊 Prescription medications for pets with more severe anxiety

Every pet is different, so what works well for one may not be the best choice for another. Our team can help recommend the safest and most effective option based on your pet's needs and lifestyle.

If your pet struggles with anxiety, give us a call! We're happy to help you find the right solution.

🐾 Not every anxious pet looks anxious.

When people think of anxiety in pets, they often picture shaking or hiding. But anxiety can show up in many different ways, including:

🐶 Excessive barking or whining
🐱 Destructive chewing or scratching
🐾 Pacing or restlessness
🍽️ Changes in appetite
😴 Sleeping more—or less—than usual
👀 Becoming unusually clingy or avoiding people

These behaviors aren't your pet "being difficult." They're often their way of communicating that something isn't right.

If you've noticed a change in your pet's behavior, don't ignore it. Our team can help determine whether it's anxiety, a medical issue, or something else entirely. We can work with you to create a plan that helps your pet feel their best!

A calmer, happier pet starts with understanding what's behind the behavior. 💙

Sometimes what looks like a behavior problem is actually your pet trying to tell you something.

🐾 Is your dog suddenly having accidents in the house?
It could be a urinary tract infection, not a training issue.

🐱 Is your cat avoiding the litter box?
Pain, bladder issues, or arthritis may be the real cause.

🐕 Is your pet acting grumpy or withdrawn?
Pain, illness, or discomfort can change their personality.

Behavior changes are often one of the first signs that something isn't right. If your pet starts acting differently and you can't explain why, it's worth scheduling an exam to rule out medical causes before assuming it's behavioral.

Your pet can't tell you what's wrong, but they can show you. ❤️
