Good morning KatuHouse,

Another beautiful day of gains! ☀️

Our little runt, Mr. Cricket, is up in weight again and is getting closer and closer to joining the 300 gram club! He is still noticeably smaller than his siblings, but that doesn’t seem to matter to him one bit. This little guy is a warrior. He’s a fighter, and every day he proves he has no intention of giving up. I truly believe he’s going to grow into a big, beautiful, healthy kitten.

We’re also reaching one of my favorite stages of kitten development. The babies are now recognizing my voice. The moment they hear me, they start waking up, meowing, and wiggling around looking for attention. They’re beginning to walk, explore, and react to the world around them. When they hear mom meow from another part of the room, they’ll actually start moving in her direction.

Watching these little milestones never gets old. Seeing them go from tiny, helpless newborns into curious little kittens discovering the world is honestly amazing. Every day brings something new, and I love being able to witness it.

Hello KatuHouse,

Another good day of gains! 🐾

Mr. Cricket is way up in weight, though he still has some catching up to do. He’s doing great! This morning I caught him fighting one of his siblings for a ni**le… and he won! 💪

This little guy refuses to quit. At this rate, he’s going to climb right up the leaderboard—who knows, he might even surpass them all someday! 😆

And here are the chonks! Day 15 of life and everyone is growing, nursing, and keeping us busy. Watching these little personalities develop has been so much fun.

Good morning KatuHouse,

Happy Monday! 🐾
And happy 2 weeks old to the kittens! 🎉

Everyone is doing great except for Mr. Cricket. We still have our eyes on him. He lost a tiny bit of weight overnight, which tells me he’s latching on, but the bigger kittens are eventually pushing him away.

This morning I tried tube feeding several times without much success, and I’ll admit I got frustrated. The kitten was crying, mama was crying, and I was trying my best to get food into him. Sometimes things just don’t go smoothly.

For now, he’s back with mom and on a ni**le. I’ll continue supplementing and checking on him every few hours to make sure he starts moving back in the right direction. Little man is definitely making me earn every gram.

These are the moments people don’t always see when they say breeding looks easy. The truth is, it can be emotionally exhausting. Even after all this time, I still get frustrated and worried. The important thing is to take a breath, stay calm, and keep trying. That’s exactly what Cricket is doing, and that’s what I’m going to do too.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! 🎉🎉🎉

That’s all I can say right now!!

Guess who officially joined the 200-gram club?!

🐾 CRICKET!! 🐾

HELL YEAH!!!

Last night before bed I made sure the little man had a ni**le all to himself. I sat with Ellie and the babies until everyone settled down and fell asleep, and made sure Cricket was nursing before I left. Throughout the night I checked the camera and kept an eye on him to make sure he was still eating.

This morning, before I even put him on the scale, I knew he had gained weight. I could feel it just picking him up!

And his wound?! Completely healed! No holes, no issues, nothing. He’s active, nursing, and gaining weight!

I almost want to say we’re through the hardest part, but the battle isn’t over yet. Tomorrow the kittens turn 2 weeks old, and I want to keep seeing Cricket gain weight and move in the right direction.

His availability may be delayed depending on how things go, but that’s a decision for another day.

For now, we’re celebrating a huge win. Keep it up, Cricket! ❤️🐾

I’d say it’s a good day! All the attention is on Mr. Cricket! 🐾

Last night he was not doing well at all. He wasn’t moving much and couldn’t even keep his head up. Honestly, I thought we were coming to the end…

But I just couldn’t accept it. I wasn’t done trying, and neither was he.

I’ve seen kittens on their last breath. I’ve seen kittens who have given up and have nothing left. This little man was not telling me that at all. I could see the fight in him. I could see that he wanted to live.

I’ve never been in a situation where I was actively trying to save a life and seeing it work. I am beyond happy, but the battle is far from over.

Yesterday I decided to tube feed him and I think it went very well. I did it three times throughout the day. The vet had also given me Amoxi drops, but I switched him to Clavamox last night since it’s a bit stronger. I gave him a small amount, applied Manuka honey to his wound, and moved his siblings so Cricket could have the ni**les all to himself.

To my surprise, he latched on. He was having a hard time even keeping his head up to drink, so I supported him a little and moved him to a lower ni**le where he could nurse more comfortably on his own. I stayed with him and Ellie while he drank.

Unfortunately, Ellie is currently in heat and isn’t spending as much time lying with the kittens as she normally would, so I had to keep helping him relatch whenever she got up and moved around.

I even woke up in the middle of the night to make sure he was still nursing and doing okay.

This morning I checked on him and the difference is incredible. He is much more active, moving around on his own, and able to keep his head up without assistance. Even more amazing, his wound is almost completely healed!

I am absolutely blown away.

Whether it was the tube feeding, the extra nursing time, the Clavamox, the Manuka honey, or all of it combined, something is working.

I’m so happy, you have no idea. For the first time in a while, I’m feeling genuinely hopeful that this little man can pull through.

Kitten update...

Unfortunately, we're not doing too well.

The runt of the litter, who has already been struggling to gain weight, developed an open wound. From what I can tell, it looks like mom may have accidentally bitten him a few days ago while trying to move the kittens.

To help, I picked up some Manuka honey and carefully applied a small amount to the wound. Manuka honey is a high-grade medical honey from New Zealand that is known for its natural healing properties. The goal is to help protect the wound and support the healing process.

On top of that, he lost weight last night. While all of his siblings continue to gain, he went backward and lost the progress we had worked so hard to achieve. Seeing that number drop was tough.

This morning I decided it was time to stop hesitating. I've always been nervous about tube feeding because these kittens are so tiny and fragile, and the last thing I want to do is cause harm. But I knew I had to try.

I tube fed him this morning, and thankfully it went very well. He's still active, still fighting, and still trying. I don't think he's given up yet. The feeding helped, and he's already back up in weight. Now the goal is to stay consistent and help him continue moving in the right direction.

The veterinarian has also started him on antibiotics to help with the wound and give him the best chance possible.

This has been a difficult few days. Just when I thought we were finally out of the woods, another challenge appeared.

But I'm not giving up on him.

His name is Mr. Cricket, and he's a fighter. 🦗❤️

Please say a little prayer for Mr. Cricket. We're doing everything we can to help this little guy pull through.

Happy Wednesday!

First update -

Kitties are doing fantastic!! Even the little runt who had fallen behind on weight. I have been closely monitoring him and making sure he’s been getting the ni**les and it’s working! Woo! So soo happy! Don’t even want to think about the negatives that could have happened. All 7 are thriving and growing exactly as they should.

Definitely been a stressful few days keeping an extra close eye on the little one, but seeing weight gain and a full belly makes it all worth it. Mama Ellie is doing amazing with her babies and everyone seems stronger each day.

Kitties are officially 1 week old!! Woooo! 🎉

Update —
We still have one kitten we have our eyes on. She is the little tortie with the white collar. She’s the smallest of the litter, our little runt, and has fallen behind a bit in weight.

I’ve attempted syringe feeding multiple times, but she keeps rejecting it. Every opportunity I get, I move the other kittens away and let this little girl nurse as much as she wants. Last night I set a few alarms throughout the night and kept waking up to make sure she was eating.

To my surprise, she is up in weight this morning! It’s only a small gain, but a gain is a gain, and that’s what matters. She wants to live. She has no issues otherwise, just tiny and needing a little extra help right now.

I’ve got a full day of work today and I’m super busy, but I’ll be making a few stops home throughout the day to make sure she’s still nursing and continuing to gain.

Wish this little girl luck and say a little prayer for her. ❤️🐾
