You chose this profession because you love animals. But somewhere along the way, you realize it’s about so much more than medicine.

It’s about the little moments — the nervous pet who finally gives you a kiss, the tail that starts wagging when they recognize you, the kitten or puppy you get to watch grow, and the senior pets who have become part of your heart. 🥹🐾

It’s being trusted to care for someone's beloved family member and being there for both the happiest moments and the hardest ones. That trust is something we never take for granted. ❤️

Mid-Carolina Animal Hospital will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8th with our normal business hours.

We are honored to continue serving our community as the same locally owned, family-operated animal hospital we've been since September 2018. ❤️🐾

While you may see a few new faces, the heart of our hospital remains the same. Many of our team members have been here since the very beginning, and together we've built a work family that truly cares about our patients, our clients, and our community. Every day, we come to work because we love what we do and want to provide the best care possible for your pets.

We also want to share something that's been weighing on our hearts. Veterinary medicine is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and mentally challenging. Our team works hard to help every pet and every family that walks through our doors. We understand that stressful situations happen, and we know emotions can run high when a beloved pet isn't feeling well.

📢 Important Prescription Refill Update 📢

Beginning Monday, August 10, 2026, we will require ALL medication refill requests to be called in at least 24 hours in advance. 💊🐾

This change is being made due to the high volume of prescription refill requests we receive each day. Requiring 24-hour notice will help us process every refill accurately and in a timely manner while allowing our doctors and staff to focus on the patients and clients who are here for scheduled appointments.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue working to provide the best care possible for all of our patients. ❤️

🌞🐾 The temperatures are climbing again this week!🐾🌞

🌞🐾 Heat Exhaustion Can Happen Fast! 🐾🌞

Hot weather can be dangerous for pets. Watch for signs like excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or trouble walking.

💦 Keep fresh water available, provide plenty of shade, avoid the hottest part of the day, and never leave your pet in a parked car.

If you think your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area and contact your veterinarian right away. Quick action can save a life! ❤️

☀️🐾 Hot Pavement = Hot Paws! 🐾☀️

With temperatures soaring, remember that sidewalks, asphalt, and even concrete can become hot enough to burn your pet's paw pads in just a matter of seconds. 🌡️🔥

Before heading out for a walk:
🐶 Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet.
🌳 Walk during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.
🐾 Stick to grassy or shaded areas whenever possible.
💧 Bring plenty of fresh water and take frequent breaks.

A few extra precautions can help prevent painful burns and keep tails wagging all season long! ❤️
