Let’s talk about vaccines! 💉
Vaccinations are one of the most important parts of preventive care and are a simple, cost-effective way to help protect your pet from serious and sometimes life-threatening diseases. They also help protect our communities from certain diseases that can be passed between animals and people.
For dogs, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) considers DAPP, Rabies, and Leptospirosis core vaccines. But your dog’s vaccine needs don’t stop there! Their lifestyle, environment, and individual risk factors all play a role in determining which vaccines are most important for them.
For some dogs, vaccines such as Lyme, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and Rattlesnake Toxoid may also be an important part of their preventive care. A dog who hikes, boards, visits dog parks, travels, or spends time in areas where certain diseases are more common may have different vaccine needs than a dog who primarily stays at home.
And what about our feline friends? Their core vaccines include FVRCP and Rabies, with additional recommendations based on their individual lifestyle and risk.
At Embrace, the vaccines we use are thimerosal-free and low-adjuvant/low-additive formulations, and our vaccines are administered at a 0.5 mL volume (with the exception of Rabies, which is not currently available in a 0.5 mL formulation).
Our goal isn’t simply to give vaccines--it’s to make thoughtful, individualized recommendations based on your pet’s needs and lifestyle. Every pet is different, and their preventive care plan should be too! 💙
