Week 5 of canine pregnancy is when puppies stop looking like embryos… and start looking like puppies.

By now:
• heartbeats are strong
• organs are forming
• toes begin separating
• facial features are becoming distinct

So much happens during this week.

🐾 Changes you may see in the dam

Many females start showing noticeable physical changes now:
• Abdomen begins rounding slightly
• Ni***es enlarge and darken (“pinking up”)
• Appetite often increases
• Energy levels may fluctuate
• Some mild clear vaginal discharge can be normal
