🐾Happy National Microchipping Month!🐾

We have a recent story about a client who had lost her newest addition to their family. They had called in informing us that their new cat had gotten out and had given us a description. Sometimes that alone is not enough to identify a lost cat. A good samaritan later that day brought in a cat matching that description. We were able to confirm it was her cat due to the her microchip matching the owners information! We wanted to share this heartwarming story and just were over the moon with excitement to be able to assist with this reunion!! We can only hope assist with many more!

We understand for safety reasons that collars may not be feasible for barn cats and dogs but microchipping is a great option for increasing the odds of a happy reunion such as this one!🥰

Algae Bloom Alert!! 🚨c
Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are most common in summer and early fall and can make dogs seriously ill.

🐾 Dogs can be exposed by swimming, drinking contaminated water, or licking algae off their fur.
Symptoms may include:
Vomiting and diarrhea
Rash or skin irritation
Difficulty breathing
Weakness
Liver failure
Seizures or convulsions

Symptoms can begin within minutes to hours after exposure.
Severity depends on toxin type, amount ingested, dog size, and stomach contents.
Common Minnesota toxins include microcystin, anatoxin-a, and cylindrospermopsin.
There are no antidotes; treatment is supportive care only.
Avoid water that looks discolored or has foam, scum, or algae mats.

Prevent exposure by:
Keeping pets from swimming or drinking affected water
Preventing pets from licking algae off their fur
Rinsing pets with fresh water immediately after suspected exposure
Remember: “When in doubt, stay out!”

Heads up, Cleary Lake clients — road construction near the clinic may slow your trip. Please allow extra time and consider alternate routes.

Affected projects:

- Natchez Ave/ County Rd 91- intersection of CH 68 and CH 91 will be closed to traffic ( Use 185th St to get to CLVH)
- Hwy 169 / County Rd 282 / Co. Rd. 9 — interchange work may cause delays/lanes shifts.
- Co. Rd. 21 & Southbridge Pkwy / Pike Lake Rd — intersection construction; expect stoppages and detours.
- Co. Rd. 16 modernization (from Co. Rd. 18 to TH‑13) — lane closures and slower traffic.

Tips:
Leave 10–20 minutes earlier than usual.
Use local parallel roads or GPS alternate-route suggestions to avoid the busiest spots.
If you’re running late, call us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Ja’Kai passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam) last week and is officially a 💙CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN!!! 💙

Ja’Kai joined our team after his small animal veterinary technican internship last Fall.
